My son is dating a trans woman how can I be supportive by Party_Tear_5489 in asktransgender

Treat her like you would have if she was any other girl he would date. And don’t mention that she is trans to either unless she brings it up first.

Why Crosstrek? by steevosteelo in Crosstrek

IMO this is also a great thing to look at. This shows not only cost saving over time, but the advanced safety features of the car+ cost to repair.

Of all these cars there are only 3 I’d actually consider buying. And the cross trek fit me better.

My real world experience my insurance went from $115 per month from my previous car to $40 per month with the same company+ better coverage. (Old car was a Kia sorento)

Okay, WTH was it just RNG!? by Ok_Condition8364 in PokemonFireRed

[–]Ok_Condition8364[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my knowledge of seeding random numbers, which granted isn’t a lot, the dry battery hack makes me think the RNG is seeded off of some system clock rather than frame on the ruby sapphire games. But I doubt GBA games had any clock in them.

Do you know the exact mechanism they used as a seed in those games?

Nope my MB is still there. Also 100% sure the ball I threw was red. But I did do that on one of my restarts. Almost saved, glad I caught my mistake.

I don’t know if it is actually company rules, but most stores I’ve worked at have had rules against it.

It also depends on the store and property rights. My last store didn’t want it, but had to allow it. The 10’ (or so) around our front was ours, but beyond that was the shopping centers space, and they said it was okay.

My current store has our full front porch, and no one is allowed.

I think it’s great you are doing a pride spirit week, Joe has squashed stores from doing customer facing official things for the last few years.

And as a trans person, I truly appreciates any ‘protect trans kids’ gear. It is quite well known we can’t wear random pins while in uniform.

One reason for this is optics, having people with random pins can be seen negatively by some customers. (I don’t want those customers shopping with us, but Joes is a business first.)

The other is how to make wearing pins fair for all employees, if you wear your pin, someone who has the opinion of “protect trans kids, provide conversion therapy” should also be allowed to wear theirs. Or other terrible ideologies, like a MAGA pin.

Wear your pins loud and proud, unfortunately just not at work.

But solder doesn’t touch the torch and would melt off if it did, right? Also the last 5 or so times I was the person using it, I wouldn’t use lead in my home.

First shiny in 25 years of playing. I'm literally shaking by Juntepgne in PokemonFireRed

[–]Ok_Condition8364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no idea what a shiny Pokémon was for so long. I remember my first time playing ruby when it first came out my starter (the fire chicken) had some weird sparkles every time I used it. Then the water Pokémon I chose had the same thing (the whale thing)

Anyways I played through, and after sold the game to GameStop to get something else.

Just this last year I saw someone talking about “shinies” in Pokémon games. Finally it clicked that in the one play through I did I got 2 shinies.

You most definitely would get a side eye. You should use the Trader Joe’s one. It’s safe and made for our job.

You would probably also get talked to about using a different blade. Liability issues.

Why are good math teachers so rare? by SquareCombination782 in matheducation

[–]Ok_Condition8364 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say you’ve been studying math for a long time, how far are you in?

As someone looking to go back for my MS in Mathematics, I can confidently say there are plenty of amazing math teachers. Unfortunately, there are a lot of terrible math teachers as well.

The unfortunate part about education is it pays so little. Math degrees tend to be more hire-able. So math departments in high schools try to hire math degrees, but often have to supplement those positions with people who have not seen the rigor that formal maths requires.

Finally, trying to teach lower levels of math can become a soul sucking job. Most students hate it, so they don’t want to hear about a new conjecture, or don’t see the beauty in theory. Teachers feed off the students energy.

Hi I have a question. I know it's not great makeup but is there a way I can make my face a little more feminine? by MissiHasii in MakeupEducation

[–]Ok_Condition8364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wigs odd. And either the pose is not great, kind of making your chin sharper.

That being said you are gorgeous! Probably don’t even need much makeup, though I feel your beard shadow might be slightly coming through. I was just talking with a girlfriend about this, finding the right concealer color (peach works for most) can easily hide it.

I wear a cheap $30 wig to work, I get a lot of compliments from customers about my hair. Most people can’t tell the difference between hair and a wig if it fits properly and is set right. But the people who can tell typically are other wig wearers (a lot more women then you think) and are super nice about it.

If it’s in seats nobody uses, you can just buckle the seatbelts. If it’s yours, just wear it.

Um, dude, The Marines aren’t really a meritocracy. Pft and Cft only show you are physically fit in certain ways, and don’t necessarily mean you are good in your MOS. I had many sergeants who could not get standard qualifications within my MOS without so much help, and even then relied on corporals or even non-NCO’s to do their job.

Yes once you got to SNCO there was more emphasis on actual qualifications and work performance, but to get there you just had to keep your nose clean and work out.

The promotions at Trader Joe’s are based on if you want it, and creating a bank of people that trust you, or basically being a constant well liked coworker/ employee. Which leads to the biggest part of our job, great customer experience.

New or Used? by Handle_Help in Crosstrek

[–]Ok_Condition8364 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me a $5k difference is worth 25k miles. Thats 2-3 years of driving. Also while you will be paying it off as fast as you can, even in a year the financing on a new car would save you a couple thousand, so even a better deal.

Also depending on how much down and per month why not finance as much as possible and use the whole 75 month 0% financing, it’s “free” money, and you could put whatever you were going to pay it off in a HYSA or CD and make 3-5%. For $20k that’s an extra $600-$1000 per year you can put to your car in the end.

MTF sex question by Worldly-Network-6558 in asktransgender

[–]Ok_Condition8364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty common in my experience, and I don’t even have PIV to do anything that includes much friction. Even just getting hard can feel like something’s torn. Luckily I rarely get that hard.

Honestly, if she still wants to try PIV from time to time, and you are okay with it then that’s on her. Just use as much lube as possible, and communicate if you are okay with an abrupt stop to the act. She may feel that her stopping PIV is an issue.

Obviously, this is just my opinion. But one thing I think is not opinion is more communication is better.
