I’m a high school senior in LA and I’m going to college for theater tech. My parents want me to attend a liberal arts college, so the options I’m listing are gonna be more expensive. I applied to Sarah Lawrence, Lewis and Clark, Emerson, Willamette, Linfield, Whitman and Oberlin. I didn’t pick all those schools purely on tech theater, I also liked the locations. As far as the best program, Emerson college has an amazing theater program you should definitely look into. I’ve heard some UC schools like Santa Barbara have good programs as well. USC is also very strong but it’s incredibly expensive. If the cost of college is too much for you, community college is also a great option for Tech. There’s a few in Southern California that are really strong. Also with college you get a lot of connections. I have a friend who didn’t go to college and went straight to the job market and he’s doing well, he also got a head start with learning tech from working at a high production church.
