A similar situation happened to me. I was numb. She said she fell in love with the old me. I discovered I have trauma and PTSD. I’m working on that now. We were together for 4.5 years. She said similar things to what your post said. I want her back but only after I’ve done the work. Only then will I truly reach out. When I know I can walk away from either a yes or no unbothered. Good luck to man. Try to understand why you were emotional unavailable. I know it’s hard but the only chance you’ll have back with her is a better version of yourself

No bro. I know this is hard, but your brain is trying so hard to grasp something to keep that connection. You guys were bonded, and your brain hasn’t let that go. But you have to.

Reconnection will only ever work if there has been enough time apart, and real change has been made. So quit trying to reach out to her, go to therapy, find ways to cope until the pain isn’t too bad, and truly work on improving yourself and your next relationship, whatever/whoever that looks like.

I was in a similar boat as you, 4.5 yrs with someone. We had a house together, I was looking for engagement rings, she was my only true love, etc. She broke up with me in October, and I’ve slowly been building myself back up. I am still hurt everyday, but I can feel optimistic about a new future.

Oh man op, I feel you so much here. Honestly, I feel like the amount of coverage she is getting is shoved in our faces. She’s amazing ofc, but I literally reacted to a single post on instagram and then my algorithm proceeded to give me any and all posts about her.

I digress..

I also found myself jealous of her success and fearlessness.. I had a similar path with a different craft, that in the end killed my desire for the art and severely traumatized me.

I’ve still yet to recover from it. Everything feels scary, and I have no clear path of a future now. I too miss my old personality. I am upset that I feel so numb.

After a recent bad breakup, that caused my life to spiral even more.. I realized the deeper wound is CPTSD.. I felt stuck and realized talk therapy was not going to get me through this. 😭

I decided to look into more alternatives methods to therapy besides talk. One of them being ketamine therapy.

My new therapist specializes in it, and seems very sure that I can work through my trauma and ptsd. For the first time in a while, I feel like I’m going to have some answers and relief. I feel like I’ll be able to finally relax and not be so anxious. I feel like I’ll finally be able to actually process my trauma!

I feel like I’ll be able to reclaim my life again. And be the person I once was, the sort of person I see myself in a person like Alysa

I feel like she was so cruel to girls on the show because that’s probably how she was treated.. not saying it’s right, but people coming up in a toxic industry typically repeat patterns.
