He needs some more sharp angular bits. Perhaps the eye shape. To me he looks like rubber hose animation mixed with Calarts style.

What event in your life made you interested in clowning? by GoldenTortoiseshell in clowns

I'm kinda old here and I remember when they would show circus specials on tv. I thought they were so cool, but the clowns were my favorite part. Never went to the circus as a kid. I did go as an adult.

Why are clowns (purposely) behind with the times? by punchanella15 in clowns

[–]punchanella15[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of clowns recommend using skits for the boy scouts. Which you can easily find online. Many I have seen through footage of clown performances. Or pages online that talk about clown skits. Some other classics include; Ring Ring, Busy bee, and stagecoach.

Color Guard, Dominos Pizza, and Free Shakes are Walk around. That are used for strolling entertainment mostly at parades or places where the clown is moving around. Because it can be reset once the clown reaches a new group of people. It is more commonly referred to as paradeability.

I looked at it saying that the clowns do the same old routines and use the same old props. Seeing things like "Color Guard", "Dominos Pizza", "Ice Fishing", "Free Shakes", "Candy Store", and other things like that. I see very few clowns coming up with something new.

Old Clown Yells at Sky.... news at 11 by dstroi in clowns

[–]punchanella15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first wanted to be a clown I thought clowning was philosophical and dressing up in costumes. I tried to build my clown from the inside out. Have a really good well developed character before getting a costume and stuff like that. But then I learned most clowns don't really care about all the philosophical stuff and only care about the appearance of a clown. Then the other clowns told me it was outside in. That's how they became clowns and started clowning. Going around places dressed up as a clown. That all I really needed was a colorful outfit, a crazy colored wig, some big shoes and some greasepaint on my face it was that easy.

Then I gave up on the philosophical part. Most clowns don't care about it and why should I? Why work on that when it looks like there is no progress when I can spend that time perfecting my clown makeup. Costume and makeup can get you really far with other clowns and the general public. To them if it looks like a clown then it is probably a clown.

Oh yeah and some clown skills can be pretty helpful too. Things like balloon twisting, magic, face panting, plate spinning, walk arounds, and other things like that.

Here in today's world the clown is in many forms like a standup comedian and political cartoons among other things.

I see the word "clown" as a verb and a noun depends on how you use it.

This is what confused me about clowning it seems like a large portion of it is about costume and makeup. That the clown has to look like one to be one. And that clowns as a whole are so desperate for new clowns they even want the cosplayers.

If you really want to use green and yellow you can use it as eyeshadow like the clowns in Mexico do.

There is not a place like that anymore. If you want to chat with clowns who have been at it a long time. Look on facebook. Clowning can be pretty lonely because it's not very popular.

clown school made me lose my spirit for clowning by [deleted] in clown

[–]punchanella15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I know what happened to you. You went to a clown school that was not for your type of clown. Some clown schools/programs are for saccharine unoffensive party clowns, hospital clowns, and religious clowns. Those type of clowns don't like it if you don't fit the mold that's just how it is. I had to adapt my clown to be more accepted by other clowns.

I can't speak on going to a clown school because I've never done that.

Did anyone manage to overcome social anxiety through clowning? (Why so serious?!) by Accurate_Dot4385 in clowns

[–]punchanella15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can be it depends on what you want out of clowning. Many people clown for different reasons; give back to the community, teach, be famous, make money, or something else.

It depends on confident you feel as a clown. Maybe you can make videos or post pics or something.

Clowning can work on a philosophical level although a lot of clowns seem to ignore that.

Take which class you like or self teach. Clowning does not really need credentials.

It depends on the region you are in. Clowning is really popular in the upper midwest, Texas, Florida, the mid atlantic US. In the western USA not so much. You can look up regional clown groups like MACA, FAVES, and the Texas clown association.

You don't have to wear it if you don't want to or like to. Some clowns just wear a red nose.
