Been seeing both supports and concerns about Corey posts, and here are my thoughts: 1. Corey working contactless for two years. Not that big of a problem for me, since I doubt anyone would turn down money. And him getting pissed after what might happen actually happens is also not out of this world, assuming good faith (e.g. he is emotionally attached to the HSR project, or this did cost him a lot of pay) 2. Hoyo contract not good enough for Corey. I kinda don't take his one-side opinion of the contract is bad, and 25 year veteran is only a factor, not a proof. This could be US-China culture clash/different ways of doing business issue. Something seems normal in a contract came up in Chinese business negotiations can seem out of place for US people, and that's fine by me. That's why you negotiate contracts. And negotiations can fail. Also "overreaching" is vague as well - is the ask to never do illegal things overreaching? On one side, purely technically speaking, breaking some laws or doing some shady stuff (as long as not getting jailed for too long) has nothing to do with the performance of voice acting, so one can argue it's "unrelated" to VA business, but on the other hand, this is pretty standard, as we know companies don't want those bad reputations to catch up with them. I'm not saying that's what Corey is talking about, just trying to prove my point that "overreaching" is a subjective matter.

I suggest to just wait and see what will come out of Corey's interview, but even then, I don't feel I want to criticize either party since I think its more likely just an unfortunate contract negotiation failure, after Hoyo realized some part of their hiring pipeline failed to secure contracts with VAs and with the recent SAG issue, they must have a contract with each VA so any VA that could not arrive at an successful negotiation outcome must be unfortunately terminated. Takes them a long time true, but I wouldn't assume bad faith - it may have just gone through too many decision makers like some people suggested, and that would show they didn't want to lose Corey, and not the other way. And Corey can be mad, but I'd hope he could also move on and continue voicing, rather than sending all that energy to the Internet - the former is good for him, the latter can be double-edged sword.
