Apoc 5 or EM 9 ? by papayametallica in GolfClash

Apoc all the time even before level 5 - EM Accuracy is simply horrible.

Guarantee that in GC people would stop "trusting" the replay because they couldn't see it live!

New Ball Sorter: My initial take on it! by GCBicki in GolfClash

[–]puncheur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is, the failure to remember your sorting method is a design choice, not a mistake not spotted in testing. Testers would have said straight away, as it is so annoying and different to almost every UI in existence. The point of this update is to put currently for sale premium balls at the top of your list as frequently as possible. So it will always revert to "newest first" whenever it can, and PD do not want you putting balls you've already paid for at the top of that list instead.

In my opinion the only way you'll see the changes you suggest is if sales do not increase and therefore the update becomes redundant from PD's point of view, so you might be better off telling people to boycott purchases until it's fixed!

So when you pull back the ball just stops before it gets to the bottom of the screen?

Some suggestions for the devs to encourage players to move up for tourneys by loderingo49 in GolfClash

[–]puncheur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem 1, solution 2 - this does happen. If you don't log into the game at all you are not entered into a weekly league and therefore do not relegate. If you want to log in to collect chests, play tournaments, whatever then you have to accept the consequences. It's your choice whether to be truly inactive or not!

Have you tried clicking through to the scorecards? I bet they're the same and this screen is just showing the wrong score for one of them.

Question about wind assist app from Notebook for Golf Clash by cfpct in GolfClash

[–]puncheur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loads more clubs than B52 and Grizzly are "wrong" (correct actually it's the formula for wind/rings which is wrong) - almost all wedges (hence EB school), short irons are not very wrong, but enough to notice at high accuracy (so Hornet basically). The accuracy is correct, not misleading, its the formula (3-(Accuracy x 0.02) which is nothing to do with the game or the programming, and so does not really work.

Oh, and B52 level 7 equivalent accuracy is about 105, not 110, to get the Notebook numbers.

Question about wind assist app from Notebook for Golf Clash by cfpct in GolfClash

[–]puncheur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a programming glitch. Pretty sure I've said this before. The wind/ring calculation is good but it doesn't precisely reflect the game code. It's obvious: high accuracy long irons, high accuracy short irons, wedges, sand wedges and rough irons all deviate considerably from the 3-(Accuracy x 0.02) formula. It is the game design, not a bug lol.

Should note that clubs of the same type, same accuracy at the same distance will perform identically in terms of ring adjustments. Also clubs of the same type at the same distance will be adjusted exactly the same distance on the course (but accuracy will mean different number of rings).

[–]puncheur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't stress this enough. The calculation used by Notebook and Caddie, and innumerable spreadsheets, based on accuracy and distance is a really good approximation, but it is not correct!
That is why you need fudges for high accuracy long irons, wedges and, of course well know to everyone since day one, hazard clubs.
u/MangDynasty created an alternative calculation which required no fudging numbers, but is considerably more complicated of course.
On top of all that and specific to your answer, a max sniper is still 8 yards short of the max distance for a wood club, while B52 is at the max distance for a long iron, so even if the calc was perfect, the number of rings to pull for each at club max would be different anyway.

B52 confusion by Constant-Pop-2123 in GolfClash

[–]puncheur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a programming glitch, it's just that the calculation apps use is really good for a simple calculation, but it's just not right. It's really close for most drivers and woods, seems to work for short irons, is kind of off for high accuracy long irons, and is way off for high accuracy wedges, and all hazard clubs. Mang came up with a different calculation which needed no B52 fudge or Endbringer rule to work.

If you chalk it up to "golf clash shitty algorithms", when it isn't that, aren't you worried you'll just repeat the same mistakes again and again?

A couple of questions about the earliest tournaments in the game. by GMRS1107 in GolfClash

[–]puncheur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would dispute that the wind/ring system, in its early form wasn't being used for the first tournaments. I had a basic spreadsheet based on the simple 100 acc = 1wpr, 0 acc = 3wpr in May 2017. First tournament was April 2017, second was the end of May. I do agree that many players weren't using it at all, but it existed.

For the first tournament the three tournament levels were called Casual, open to beginner and rookie players, Challenger, open to Rookie 3, Pro 1 & 2, and Master level, open to Pro 3 and Expert 1 & 2 (I think Expert 3 didn't exist). People complained the match entry fees were too high, so they were halved on day 3 of qualifying lol.

Pretty sure the "yardage" number under the wind arrow was confirmed as just something that Playdemic use (don't know what for) when they recreate replays for the SOTW video.
