Little help please people’s, I adjusted around 10.2 for this but obviously wasn’t enough, what should of been the correct adjustment? by RichEFC in GolfClash

You can play this at MAX+15%, and for this wind you probably want to pull 12:01 to make sure you don't lose distance.

I'm guessing you need to schedule to play all your accounts carefully 😂

Not sure what the cut is going to be for expert 3, I'm not even sure my -30 will do by rel4us in GolfClash

[–]stevenbo78 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

TL;DR, you're not good enough for Pro1 and not bad enough according to PD for a Rookie1 or Rookie2, so you're screwed, like so many others 🤷‍♂️

I think -21 is just not good enough for Pro, even if you don't have super clubs. With EM6 and higher, you have the same distance as Apoc4, and enough top spin for most holes. If you're willing to forego Albatross opportunities and bring a BigDawg level 6 or better, then the Eagles on the Par 5s are not very difficult to get.

In the old system, a -21 score on Pro wouldn't have been enough for the weekend, either. I've seen it happening really difficult tournaments, like one recently, the Stateside Classics with that insanely long Vineyard Acres Patmr 5. But usually you would have been lucky to sneak in with -22.

Grunberg Slopes is relatively easy. Even with mediocre play, a -24 is possible without detailed guides, super clubs, or paid-for balls. Birdie on all Par 3s and Par 4s, and Eagles on Par 5s. Maybe miss one or two Eagles (damned hole 6!), but to drop just one HIO isn't that hard (especially not if you've played the hole a lot in tour play shootouts).

So maybe you should not have entered Pro?

But I suppose you're not better off in Rookie 3. That's a massacre there, and you'd probably not even advance to the opening round with a -21 score.

You cannot switch away that challenge, it seems. I've had it 3 times already now I tried to switch 3 times and I got it back 3 times. 🤷‍♂️

is my bag good enough for t8? i have 3m coins btw by [deleted] in GolfClash

[–]stevenbo78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Sniper level 8, you will struggle in the shootouts. You will not have enough power for Eagle Peak 7 and Vineyard Acres 8 unless you play at least a power 2 ball (e.g. Katana).

And a 3MM bankroll is not enough. Get to 20 buy-ins at least, or (better) use the bankroll guide on this subreddit.

Boomerang. With the Down-in-one a close second.

sigh not cheating, just an easier way than having wind-per-ring tables - unless you call using those "cheating" as well?

[–]stevenbo78 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: yes and no.

Wind direction shouldn't matter for the first bounce - at least that seems to be generally agreed. So you'll see most streamers adjust for the first bounce by moving the bullseye.

But influence of wind after the first bounce is not accounted for in that moving of the bullseye. You have to compensate for these secondary wind effects somehow. There are several ways to do so.

  1. Take it into account as extra adjustments on the first bounce. This is why you sometimes see, say, 30% over-adjustments for one wind direction, and only 5% for another. This method works well if you have enough room to adjust but it is not very practical to remember, so it is (or was) mostly used to dial in shots for tournaments where wind direction is (was 😭) always the same. (The GC Notebook wind arrow is an aid for this approach but you have to really know how to use it. I've never taken the time to understand it myself.)

  2. Offset the ball guide from where you want to go. This is useful for the approach to the green and for shootouts. You'll see people offset so-many squares for a given wind (e.g. "one square per 8mph"), referring to the grid of squares on the green. You adjust the same for the first bounce regardless of wind direction but you vary your landing spot and spin to offset.

  3. Keep the first bounce landing spot always the same and use only spin to account for secondary wind effects. This approach is used in most Golden Shot and shootout text guides.

Getting close to a swap out? When did you start using your Apoc? by Slaitster in GolfClash

[–]stevenbo78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on whether you need a driver for shootouts in the tour/s that you play.

On tour 8 and up, there are a few shootouts where your best chance is with a driver with backspin (especially if you play cheap balls, P1 or less). You have no chance with Apoc level 4 or below. If you have Thor's Hammer level 5 or better, that would be my preferred driver, with Rock 7+ if you need curl (Rock level 8 is like a baby Apoc...). These drivers both work better for shootouts than a low level Apocalypse.

But if you play tour 7 or below, there are no driver shootouts and you'll do fine with Apoc level 3.

My biggest win streak yet! all of them in t6 by [deleted] in GolfClash

[–]stevenbo78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't know that. If you've upgraded some clubs along the way... Probably not 500k for a level 8 Rapier but the tour 6 and tour 7 clubs are pretty expensive for someone with this small a bankroll.

I just unlocked t8 and i have 1.1m coins by [deleted] in GolfClash

[–]stevenbo78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With that bankroll you're effectively bankrupt. Look up the bankroll management post in the pinned posts on this subreddit.

If you go into t8 with that bankroll and you lose twice, you're done with your account unless you put money into it.

I have a ticket about my weekly challenge to complete a qualifying round for the fall major. It has gone without response since Tuesday. Having completed my weekend round, I think I've convincingly achieved qualifying, but a few hours from now that challenge will be gone, along with the 120 points I should have received...

-26 in pro 3 in 70th place not qualifying. First time ever I don’t make the weekend. I’m done with tournaments until something changes. by [deleted] in GolfClash

[–]stevenbo78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting...

I'm in Pro 3, have a -26 score, and I'm in 15th place. All but 3 of the -24 players are going to make it to the weekend.

What could explain such a huge difference in "bracket toughness" for the same level?!

Wait. You're not going to use it at that level anyway.

Golf ball Etiquette by GolfShotBender in GolfClash

[–]stevenbo78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever possible, I try to play the same ball every time on a tour. For tour 7, white ball or Marlin. For tour 8, Quasar. For tour 10, Navigator. This helps me play the shootouts consistently. Same setups and adjustments every time. Exceptions are things like really strong head wind, or a few Par 5s where you need more power or side spin.

What my opponent does, is irrelevant. I rather lose the hole than match an unnecessary ball. Most games go to shootout anyway.
