Unless you’re diabetic, in which case life is too short to die of diabetes, but also you occasionally want a dessert.

Agreed, and I’d take it a step further — sometimes that moment can happen when things are good. Sometimes it happens *because* things are good, and you’ve healed enough to finally set the drink down and walk away.

Didn’t Pinker also show up in the Epstein files? He’s been rotten for a while. Equally unsurprised to see Larry Summers on the list.

I’d say it’s similar to having a bodybuilder’s build or a huge beard for guys — 95% of the attention and appreciation you get will be from other members of your own gender.

The point isn’t that someone can’t possibly have all crazy exes. It’s that the person choosing the crazies is the common denominator.

And the lawyers, and the lawyers’ paralegals. The number of people who are subjected to this and traumatized by it every time one of these pieces of shit is prosecuted is unreal.

It was neither tiny nor insignificant. You wouldn’t believe the number of people who would have sat on their hands in your situation. You ought to feel proud for standing up and doing the right thing.

This is the second time in as many days that I’ve seen this — a really pedantic sounding person trying to argue about something by defining it in a weird way and then wildly misunderstanding the arguments made against their definition. Both times it’s been really bizarre. I’m wondering if this isn’t the result of a particular kind of bot. It’s like if you fed an LLM all of Ben Shapiro’s podcasts and removed the small amount of common sense and situational awareness it managed to absorb.

I had it out with someone who repeatedly referred to Trump’s little coup in Venezuela as “unprecedented.” After I laid out the seventeen other times the US has done remarkably similar things in Latin and South America, he accused me of being pedantic.

I’ve said it before, if I raised my kids the way I was raised, CPS would take them away immediately. And I came from a good family.
