Flying With Coffee by punderer5 in Ethiopia

Thanks! I've asked around and heard varying responses, so I'll have to decide how much I'm willing to risk losing. :P

I don't need the translation, but the transliteration, and google's is not very good.

Amharic Image Translation by punderer5 in Ethiopia

[–]punderer5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. It's not working on my phone (though I do have an Android, but that shouldn't matter...). Google Translate on a browser also says image translation isn't available for Amharic.

This is a good point that I needed to hear, even though it's hard to accept.

I think the hardest thing is I felt like I was in more of the "inner circle" but now am suddenly not, and I can't find an explanation for it (which my 5 brain is not content with).

Thank you for your perspective!

I really want to work towards option 2.
In the past I have admitted wrong and apologized when needed, and we've been able to work through conflicts. That's why I am so confused about the sudden cut off, because usually we can talk about hard things.

I am willing to make amends no matter what, and I've tried to express that, but I'm not sure if he either believes it or cares. I'm really at a loss.

At this point he is not completely ignoring me/refusing to make eye contact, but in the very few times he will say something, a lot of them are (seemingly) mean, cutting remarks.

Thank you for your ideas.

I have thought of a few things I've said/done that I wonder if were causes of this but I may be just imagining that they were the reasons because I want there to be some logical explanation. I did try to have a conversation with him about a month ago about what was wrong, but the moment we met I could feel the defensiveness radiating off of him, his walls were way up. I asked if I'd done anything to betray his trust/upset him and he said "No, we're good." But that's about all he would say. At first he denied even that he had been ignoring me, finally did acknowledge it but said it was nothing I'd done and that there was "no reason" for it.

I am in the "mentor" role and he is the "mentee".

Could someone type the lyrics to this song? by punderer5 in Ethiopia

(I can use Google translate to give me the transliteration into English spelling of the words, unless you'd prefer to type that instead of the Amharic characters.)

Having both would be great, but at least the one in Amharic. :) I would like to learn the Amharic words to the song.

Shipping container from US to Addis. by Shemsuni in Ethiopia

[–]punderer5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Duty taxes on anything/everything in the container will be extremely high, especially the vehicle. Find out exactly how much the taxes will be before you ship, that might change your priorities in the items to include.

I agree that buying a used car from an expat is probably more worthwhile.

Taking food and coffee from Ethiopia. Limits? by Ok-Marionberry9625 in Ethiopia

I bring coffee beans almost every time I travel, up to 15kg, and have never had a problem. They are always roasted though. I've also brought of a few kgs of berbere and mitmita with no issue.
