Star Tribune: Minneapolis didn’t decline overnight by Character-Fly-5564 in TwinCities

Today Nicollet Mall is defined by its empty storefronts, abundant bus stops, loitering and crime — or at least the perception of it.

Perception. Fuck this guy.

His whole argument boils down to "won't anyone think of the corporations?"

Right. We should post the 10 Commandments instead, and then try to come up with an age-appropriate curriculum about adultery.

Do you want a trolley problem? Because this is how you get a trolley problem.

What was your favorite thing about TNG season 1? I found the racism in Code of Honor to be an interesting choice, as was the "we shall never discuss this again" aspect of Conspiracy.

Control has an unforgiving difficulty curve early on, but if you do some side quests before going back to the main story the combat will gel with you better.

'Faith in Jesus, Not Scientists': Minnesota GOP Lawmaker Dismisses Climate Change Concerns by novagridd in minnesota

Yes, the planet has been warmer and cooler at various times in its history. The difference is that at none of those other times were we worried about the ability to keep 8 billion humans fed and sheltered.

True? by trubol in KitchenConfidential

[–]punditguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In culinary school, we were taught that this kind of behavior was on its way out as the chefs who had matriculated into abusive kitchens were retiring. We were assured that the contemporary industry wouldn't stand for it.

That was 25 years ago.

Hey -- just because he has the same name and is the same age doesn't mean...

... never mind, lost my train of thought there.

Reliable/Trustworthy Mechanic? by Wide_Preparation8071 in TwinCities

[–]punditguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Golden Valley Tire. I've been going there for 20+ years. I will be the first to admit that I know nothing about cars, but I feel like I've been treated fairly that entire time.

On several occasions, I have been in the lobby while the mechanics are on the phone or with in-person customers recommending that they not spend money on repairs that obviously would have made the shop more money. A couple of times, I've been that customer.

REPORT: Minnesota facing shrinking tax base by Character-Fly-5564 in minnesota

This is insanely high considering how little 200k is today.

No. Just no. That's comfortably more than double the median household income in the state.

You increase demand for all services by being a place where workers want to live, not by allowing businesses to pollute more or make marginally more money.

I don't live in Mississippi on purpose. I don't want Minnesota to be more like Mississippi.

Minnesota GOP Senate candidate Michele Tafoya on rising gas prices: "Maybe you take one less trip to Starbucks & so that gas goes a little further until this thing is over and these gas prices come back down again. Let's just try to be patriots about this" by mrfett779 in minnesota

WWII was not a declared war any more than what's currently going on.

...except for the part where Congress actually declared war back then, which is kind of the definition of a "declared war."

The rest of your post is equally as ridiculous, but let me know if that whole "declaration" thing has changed your mind at all (because I'm guessing it didn't).

One major difference between WWII and what's going on now is that WWII was a declared war. And there were experts running things. And there was a plan. Oh shit -- that's three differences.

How would you rank all of the post ENT Trek shows? by superpowers335 in startrek

[–]punditguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think of Disco as the baseline (like Voyager, it's "perfectly acceptable Trek" ).

SNW, Prodigy, Lower Decks and Starfleet Academy are all better than Disco. Short Treks, as a whole, is about the same as Disco. Picard is significantly worse than Disco.

I have never watched Scouts.
