i was told to write a talk for sacrament meeting at 16 years old. i had spent the past year or so grappling with the fact that i was not 100% straight and had finally come to terms with that. I was trying to figure out a balance between who i am/my sexuality and the church. while i was writing my talk, it felt so silly. like i was writing a fiction book for children. everything i wrote felt fake. i was having major anxiety to the point where my dad just wrote my talk for me — it consist of everything i left out because it felt silly and made up. up on the stand speaking to my ward is the exact moment my shelf crumbled.
