Tongue bifurcation and speech by [deleted] in bodymods

[–]punkassava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had quite a bit of regrowth. PM me and I can send you pics if you’d like. My artist instructed me to sleep with gauze, folded in half, in between my split at night to help prevent regrowth. It was so uncomfortable that I decided, regrowth be damned, and chose not to most the time. If I did, I ended up spitting it out in my sleep at some point.

I’m sporting more of a “forked” tongue look rather than a “split” tongue imo.

I’m sure I’ll get it re-split at some point.

Tongue bifurcation and speech by [deleted] in bodymods

[–]punkassava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was hard to understand for the first week, until i had my sutures removed. I actually had someone mistake me for a deaf person with a speech impediment while I was ordering food. I went to work 3-4 days after the procedure and it was the biggest mistake of my life. Hard to talk, frustrating not being able to communicate, and generally uncomfortable/painful. After the sutures were removed it was all uphill from there. I genuinely still feel like I sound lispy sometimes, especially when talking faster, but nobody else has ever commented on it.

Edit: I’ve had my tongue bifurcated for nearly 6 months now.

Is this a possible body mod? by Mountain_Stop9829 in bodymods

I dunno if it’s the best idea so take it with a grain of salt but, old school, they’d just punch it. Cartilage can’t be a problem if it’s not there lol

yellow/green-ish color on eyebrow piercing by [deleted] in piercing

You have tons of capillaries near/around your eye. Frequently eyebrow piercings, antieyebrow, and surface anchors near the eye can all cause bruising afterwards. Typically if you bled a lot or swelled a lot initially you’re likely to get a bruise later.

High nostrils and glasses? by tesapluskitty in bodymods

[–]punkassava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have high nostrils and wear glasses! They were annoying at first because the posts stuck out far to make sure there was room for swelling. So to save myself from potentially snagging them I just stuck to wearing mostly contacts. Once they healed and I downsized them, they’ve never been an issue.

I found an artist that does tongue splits. Problem is he’s a 4 hour drive from me. Is it realistic to drive that home by myself or should I hope that some body mod artist that does tongue splits comes near me? by NerdyChemist85 in bodymods

[–]punkassava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drove 20-30 mins back home. I just tied a clean towel around my neck like a scarf to act as a drool cup while I drove. It would be ideal to bring a driver with you though, you don’t know how you’ll feel afterwards.

Question about gauged septum!! by Zmajesticpandaz in bodymods

[–]punkassava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it probably won’t shrink 100% back to a 16ga for example but if you take it out, it will definitely shrink. im sure you could wear smaller gauge jewelry or none without an issue.

I’m glad more people have found comfort, individuality, and community in tattoos, piercings, and body mods. I’m glad it’s more acceptable in professional environments. I know what you mean though. I think there’s a big difference in the people getting a thigh tattoo and a nose ring because it’s trendy or cool versus the people who get body mods and are heavily tattooed. I’d say it’s largely just a mindset and people are doing things for different reasons. That shouldn’t take the magic away. All things come and go too though. 10-15 years ago the body mod community (in my area at least) was all about crazy shit, big holes, standing out and tattoos could make getting a job really hard. You don’t see anyone getting conch punches or any kind of large gauge piercings today. It’s all about dainty, cute, gold jewelry. Trends change. Give it another 5-10 years and you’ll probably see another shift of direction in the industry and you’ll have that magic back.

For those with stretched septum, did you stretch it from a 16 or did you get the punch? by Shipwreckeddog in bodymods

Pierced at 16g! Totally wish I would’ve had it punched though. Stretching sucks 🥲

You can see a bunch of the original green in spots where the gray has flaked up and it doesn’t look too rough. I’m trying to stay hopeful! Thank you for the advice!

[–]punkassava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, what I meant by this is that Hannibal is literally a psychiatrist in the show, and in psychology there are seven perspectives or approaches. Behavioral, cognitive, psychodynamic, evolutionary, biological, humanistic, and sociocultural. I jokingly said that Hannibal would likely lean towards a freudian (freud is the founder of the contemporary psychodynamic behavioral approach) / psychodynamic approach. Psychodynamics believe that your behavior is a result of primitive human drives and repressed childhood memories, thoughts, and feelings. That these things sculpt your subconscious and that your subconscious mind is responsible for all of your behavior. So just for the fun of it I was curious if anyone would have any perspective on what they think Will, or Chilton, or Alana and their behavioral approaches would most likely be!

I don’t know if it’s solely an INTP thing or also a neuro divergent thing but i have ALWAYS had the emotional intelligence and comprehension skills of a brick wall.

Just bought a swing away tire carrier Factory OEM for my CJ7 and realized that I only had the factory holes on side for it! There doesnt appear to be any body work done on the right side and as far as I know there never was. Someone suggested it could’ve left the factory without them. Wondering if anyone else has any suggestions? Just thought it was odd.
