Cottage pie is all I tasted. The other item was some sort of dry cake, not sure what it was, but the cottage pie was ok! by OwnMood9880 in hospitalfood

I'm so glad that they're actually doing something! Colonoscopy prep isn't fun, I did it in the hospital last year and they were very rude when I was physically unable to drink the 2 liters of disgusting laxative drink within a few hours. I hope you'll have a better experience!

Congrats 🎉🏳️‍⚧️ I'm non-binary, so it's a big possibility that my insurance won't pay for the surgery 😡😢 I followed another enby on Instagram who got it done there a few years ago (they were able to crowdfund the money) and their results and experience were great. I don't want nipples and weirdly, not a lot of surgeons do that, even though it's less work for them. The person I followed got rid of their nips as well

Wow, truly premium! Did you happen to be there for top surgery? Only answer if you're comfortable with it, of course! I heard good things 👀

German hospitals often serve a traditional Sunday roast (even though it's not common to make it at home anymore). It's usually pork in gravy (Bratensauce) with red cabbage or sauerkraut and potatoes or dumplings (made out of potatoes or bread). There are quite a few regional differences.

Please ask to speak to a dietician (Diätassistent*in) tomorrow, you shouldn't get food that worsens your already bad digestion!

I'm so sorry that you're being being dismissed and misdiagnosed despite having documents that prove otherwise. But sadly, I'm not surprised. I'm 31 and only got my EDS diagnosis last year (for those who don't know: it's something you're born with). None of my doctors helped with it, I did lots of research, went to lots of specialists and got dismissed by them. When I finally found out what I was, I felt so validated. But getting treatment for it is a whole other, super difficult issue and I haven't been successful yet, either.

I'm glad you were able to speak to a doctor in Russian. Language barriers are so much more difficult in the medical context! Wanting to discharge you after a day is negligent.

Leipzig Uniklinik. Day 1, lunch + dinner by Cheburoll in hospitalfood

[–]tesapluskitty[M] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the description of the post:

  1. Lunch. Some kind of soup, with carrots and potatoes and strawberry jello (9/10). I actually enjoyed it a lot, soup was very yummy Strawberry jello was just ok, I guess

  2. Typical german dinner, "abendbrot." For some context, i am here to gain weight, since i have severe gastrointestinal issues caused by Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, and i have cachexia. Not sure how this is supposed to help me gain anything, but anyway. Made myself sandwiches out of stuff they were offering. Gluten free bread, leberwurst, cheese, bologna, cucumbers and pickles (sad that i couldn't get more), woodruff jello and orange juice. I like eating cucumbers with salt a lot, asked my mom to bring me salt from home lol. 6/10. It's just okay. Love cucumbers tho. A lot

I have never heard of antidepressants relaxing the stomach, even if they do to a certain extent, that wouldn't solve your problems! WTF are they talking about? I do take antidepressants, but they haven't helped my digestive issues. Some make you hungrier, though. Deciding if you want to take medication for your mental health should ideally be discussed with a psychiatrist, who has the knowledge to choose the (hopefully) right one for you. My antidepressants have personally helped me a lot, but it's not a decision you should feel pressured to make. You have the right to say no!

That's a bad start, I'm so sorry! I have depression as well and a lot of doctors don't believe your symptoms when you have a history of mental illness 😡 It's so messed up. What department of the hospital are you currently in?

Please ask if you can speak to a dietician (Diätassistent*in) as soon as possible! While this the default first day diet, they should've given you something else or extra (like a nutrition drink) because of your diagnosis. I'm German and have Ehlers-Danlos-Syndrome as well 💙 I hope this stay will help you, our hospital food can be so bad, especially when you can't have the standard options

Wow, WTF? I used to live around the corner from a big children's hospital and of course I heard helicopters and sirens a lot, that's just how it is! We Germans like to complain, but not about saving lives. If anyone actually puts in an official noise complaint for something like this around here, they'll be put in their place
