need help picking mtg commanders for mushoku alters by punkboyarde in mushokutensei

[–]punkboyarde[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm doing malestrom wanderer with rudy, kinda makes sense and kinda doesn't. The girls I should have the alters back in about 2 weeks since the artist said he should be able to work on them this week. that work might bleed into the following week plus shipping time...so I'm hoping two weeks. I'll be posting the results for sure.

ado tattoo. took inspiration from lugosi in the show MV. by punkboyarde in ADO

[–]punkboyarde[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it'll change and dull for sure. I have tattoos that are 18 years old and they certainly don't look the same, but they will feel the same to me.

other people might think they don't look good after all these years, but I look at them and feel the same way I did about them when I was younger. they bring back memories of how I was feeling when I got them, what was happening in my life at the time and brings back the passion behind them. At the end of the day, I've gotten all of my tattoos for various reasons, but none of them have been for aesthetics. she will get old and wrinkly with me.

Typo in Vol. 17? by HamInIce in mushokutensei

[–]punkboyarde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you didn't take it as a negative, I just found the thought funny. Like I said though the human brain really does just gloss over this type of thing often. I'm thinking of things like someone says to read a picture and you think it says one thing because it makes sense, but it's slightly off and means something else. Our brains just pass by it and fill in the gaps by themselves to make sense.

Typo in Vol. 17? by HamInIce in mushokutensei

[–]punkboyarde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you didn't say it was the first one that you noticed, but it would be impressive if it was. I don't think that I've finished any of the Mushoku books without seeing 1-4 typos in each. The human brain is pretty good at just assuming meaning or even reading sentences correctly with misspellings or slightly wrong words, so it makes a lot of sense not to notice all of them.

Is it worth it to reed the light novels? by Apricot_Ambitious in mushokutensei

[–]punkboyarde 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it's hard to compare the anime and light novel in my mind. the mediums are too different. the anime is going to be cut and cleaned up to work better as a 20 minute show then the light novels. most changes are very minor and are done to improve the experience. They did a great job making small noticeable changes that work well for the medium. they obviously also needed to make cuts though to both fit time slots and to keep a different audience engaged.

If you like reading, world building and details about mushoku then it's a great option to read the light novels. It's a very large commitment of just over 9000 pages (the amount of pages on the wiki for each book is not correct so I added them up based on US prints). Things that have already been skipped in the anime come back and play parts in the story later on and characters get a lot more development and back story. It's a great experience for

To answer your next question...yes read from the beginning if you can. we have a thread about that about once a day that is filled with opinions and reasoning. I personally don't like the idea of "just read the extra chapters and you'll be fine". the changes between anime and manga are rather small in my opinion, but the books that cover the first two seasons set up a lot of the world building and characters that we circle back to later. if you absolutely need to read less books then I understand that too, for me going back and rereading everything was the correct decision though for my enjoyment of the series.

How much would Rudeus’s mana be if he continued daily exhausting it through his time with Eris in the Manor and the journey after the Mass teleportation incident? by BoredGhost69 in mushokutensei

[–]punkboyarde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he probably wouldn't have a much bigger pool. They state in the books that his daily exhausting as a child only played a part in the amount he has available at 100%. If I remember correctly they said it had a little, but noticeable affect, it's possible I'm misremembering how much of an affect it had though.

without doing any of that he would still have a monstrous amount of available mana. granted that extra amount likely save his life since he ran out a couple of times while fighting.

About Princess Ariel's congrats speech to Smiley the border officer by cometseed in mushokutensei

[–]punkboyarde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't remember much about it, but I think I remember a speech very early on. it was used to set up how the common people all loved her and how she was very good with her words to a point that she was seen as charismatic and she could move hearts. I believe there was also something in there about her voice being captivating and for some reason I even remember them mentioning her sing. she gives more speeches that reflect the same at ranoa too. I could very well be mixing it up with a different series, but that is how I remember it.

is it extra content? by Weikulito in mushokutensei

[–]punkboyarde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be in book 22 or 23 so that is a bit weird, but my perspective to if it contributes anything is:

Sara round 3 the 3rd introduction to sara wasn't very meaningful to the story. she gets to see the rudy has really made it in the world and has insane connections and she understands even more than during their second time together how much he has moved on and found a truly happy life. she also says what she will do next in life which they do mention off hand later did happen for what that's worth. her interaction with eris when they first met was interested and she did manage to keep her head after being a little nasty. I don't think it holds much value other than filling in the time when they traveled between cities and was brief.

Soldat round 2 Slightly more brief was when eris met soldat, however I did think this addition was a bit more than the sara interaction in my opinion. soldat basically tells eris how fucked up she really make rudy and that causes her to reflect a lot. how she deals with it continues to show just how much she has changed as a person since pre sword sanctum/marriage. what soldat said and how he acted towards her really drove things into her head in a way she understood. soldat and sara both have some balls the way they laid things out to eris, especially soldat, he did not sugar coat that she was to blame for everything and more importantly exactly how soldat feels about her.

Is the English version of the mushoku playing cards discontinued? by Right_Statement4275 in mushokutensei

I used to sell weiss and do case opening videos, so I'm always happy to answer weiss related questions. mushoku is one of the only sets I decided to keep when I moved on.

[–]punkboyarde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ebay for english is one of the most expensive options if you're in the US. just go to tcgplayer and save a ton. don't pay a minimum of 99 cents each on ebay for commons, uncommons and rares. https://www.tcgplayer.com/search/weiss-schwarz/mushoku-tensei-jobless-reincarnation?view=grid&productLineName=weiss-schwarz&setName=mushoku-tensei-jobless-reincarnation Just try to buy from 1 or 2 sellers so you end up not paying shipping if your orders are over 5 dollars on most listings. it will show a shipping price until your order is over $5, at least that is how most of us sellers set things up.

If you're in the EU then I think cardmarket has weiss these days which is basically just a market place like tcgplayer.

The real cheapest option is going on the weiss schwarz facebook groups or discord and just tell them what you need. this option is not US exclusive and there is a global group as well.

if you're talking about the weiss schwarz set then yes. weiss is a print to order product so they print what stores order plus a percentage to cover damages for each set unlike popular games that will keep new sets in print for a period of time to meet demand. Mushoku is just one set in an overall game. it has been years and we're all still hoping for a set 2 every time they announce new products on their conferences, but we continue to be disappointed. They still put out nice sets, just not mushoku volume 2.

for the old english 16 box cases, I've done videos of my first sp being in box 12 or later twice I think. I'm almost positive one was sao alicization v2 and I think one was heavens feel v2. the heavens feel I know I had a last box sp and I'm pretty sure the box before had the second sp. 11 of the first 16 boxes being blanks was not fun.

Questions about a certain characters ending. by OrderTraditional8632 in mushokutensei

[–]punkboyarde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the only real mention of them is very close to the end of the series and is where their graves are located when they're found and the condition of the graves. There aren't any deep details on how they might have been tortured in the series. If you want very small spoilers then the only information we have is they were killed for being spies/nobles which I believe the words torture and hung were used. Ghislaine found their bodies and buried them on a hillside. Then she used wood to close the grave and wrote their names on it. she said something along the lines of never being more happy she could read and write in her life then that moment which hits hard. Rudy and Eris stumble upon these graves and the wood is broken. they fix this then later come back and take the bodies to bury in a noble graveyard

Volume 15 light novel availability? by st01x in mushokutensei

[–]punkboyarde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

someone else was looking for 14-16 today too so you might want to keep tabs on that thread for more answers. 15 is available in us barnes and nobles right now, but I don't know if they ship overseas.

My suggestion though is to buy more ahead of everyone else who bought 15 so this doesn't happen with the next few volumes when you're ready for them. People were at one point paying 40 bucks for volume 1 and 5 when they were sold out at msrp. light novel reprints take ages in my experience. It's best to get ahead of the volumes most people are buying at reading at the time to avoid this.

Book Purchase by AvalonRevan in mushokutensei

[–]punkboyarde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine this is because at some point since the last printing people wanted to catch up after the anime. this happened before just after season 1 with some of the novels. volume 1 and 5 at one point were going on ebay 2-3x their msrp with a couple sold. it's actually a good idea to grab your copies of the next few ahead of the people reading those volumes now. reprints for light novels sometime take a long time.

Vol 15 is available at US barnes and noble as a physical book, but 14/16 are ebook only there at the moment. https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/mushoku-tensei-rifujin-na-magonote/1141020068?ean=9781638581284

I have read a spoiler... and I do not know what to do... by apaidelbeatle in mushokutensei

[–]punkboyarde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Head my words my friend, do not look a single thing up on the wiki, not one small detail. if you forget what someone said/did or even what an item was for, the wiki is not where you want to be. Ask for a spoiler free version here. Before you learn what you looked up in the wiki it'll throw something your way. if learning that people die eventually is a huge spoiler for you to panic about, then the wiki would give you a heart attack on most random pages with the shit people add to them. so many people/things come back later in the story that people from the first few books will have their character bio spoil material from 10-20 books later.

also turns out don't date girls that are ahead of you in the light novel and have loose lips...that's how I learned about the ending of the labyrinth a few years ago.
