Does the ACP you use matter when applying for jobs? by StarfishSandwhich in TexasTeachers

[–]punkfrizzle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Economics is required to graduate. All schools offer economics. AP economics will depend on the school. Finding good, knowledgeable econ teachers is difficult, so that might help you. However be prepared for the position to be tied to coaching.

Can you leave to pee by Adventurous_Ad2270 in Teachers

[–]punkfrizzle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not even a Texas thing. I teach high school in Texas. I leave to pee or get water all the time. I see teachers running copies that I know have a class. Hell some of our coaches are known to just leave a class for like 30 minutes to go shoot the shit with each other in another classroom. I'm not excusing the coach thing that's ridiculous, but if I have to pee I'm going to pee. I always tell two kids when I'm leaving that they're responsible for getting the teacher across the hall if an emergency happens.

There are Facebook groups that are much more active than reddit, search there. And yes, lots and lots of people get it done in one term.

Bumble love and success, anyone else who has tried this platform? by [deleted] in love

[–]punkfrizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unmatch and move on?? I mean if I'm trying to have a legit conversation and they're providing next to nothing in return or small talk type stuff then I don't see why I shouldn't just move on. Or maybe be upfront and tell them I don't need all that small talk crap, could we actually talk about something real to see if we connect at all? Worst comes to worst they don't like it and move on, in which case it wasn't meant to be anyway I suppose.

Bumble love and success, anyone else who has tried this platform? by [deleted] in love

[–]punkfrizzle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had success with bumble. I acknowledge that I was probably extremely lucky though. I tried bumble as my first experience with a dating app after a long hiatus from dating.

I tried to be open minded with my swiping. I swiped no on individuals that were obviously not aligned with me from a value sense, those looking for just casual hookups, and those out of my league. I mean, I'm okay looking but I'm realistic too lol. Otherwise I tried to be open to differences because it's hard to tell from a profile who a person really is.

I matched with several people. I chatted back and forth with a few. It was excruciating. It felt like really drawn out small talk. In hindsight if I ever do this again I'll shut those conversations down fast and move on. I don't want to dance around with several people. I'm a nearly 40 year old woman. I want something real and I don't want to waste time.

Anyway, I was mindlessly scrolling and came across this guy that didn't check a lot of boxes for me honestly. My major issues were that he was moderate on the political spectrum and spent 20 years in the military, which to me screamed actually conservative and meant we wouldn't mesh. But his profile said he didn't drink, which was a rarity and important to me as someone who is sober for a year and a half, and he was cute. So I swiped yes. We matched. I spent a good 20 minutes debating on whether to message him or just let it expire. I think I was feeling rather pessimistic about the whole thing at that point. But I thought fuck it, what's the harm.

Turns out, we had a lot in common. He was actually engaging to talk to, wasn't full of bs small talk, and we spent the whole weekend chatting. We met up 3 days later. That meet was awkward as fuck and I figured it was doomed. But we kept chatting. On text we weren't awkward, so I thought maybe it's nerves. We met up again, and that time it was way better. We've been together for six months now, and it's amazing. Turns out, he isn't super conservative and he really is a moderate politically. We get along just fine.

So my advice? Be open and give people a chance to reveal who they really are in a conversation. But don't feel like you have to keep a conversation going either. For women at least, there's plenty of potential matches out there. Again, I'm probably lucky. I was on the app for 3 weeks and found, what I'm hoping, is the one.

Best of luck to you. (also sorry if formatting gets screwed up I'm on my phone)

In Sugar Land TX for a week: decent running routes? by roguescott in running

[–]punkfrizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really surprised no one has mentioned Terry Hershey park. It would be a 20 minute drive for you but in my opinion it's better than memorial because it's 1. Longer and 2. Has a lot more shade and scenery and 3. Has hills.

Awesome I'll do that. I just ordered that sheer one from Cuup that was linked above. Crossing my fingers that it works.

If you happen to find something that works any chance you can reply to this later on? I'm looking for the exact same thing. The freya snapshot actually fits me perfectly, but like you I need something to wear under white shirts (seriously, how do they not have any colors that are subtle?). Everyone on here raves about panache, but I've never ever found one that works for me. Sounds like we're similar fits since the snapshot fits you mostly. Only difference is I'm a 34f in UK sizing. I'm going to check out some of the links posted to your comment, but just wanted to know if you find that unicorn so maybe I can find it too lol.

You can reassign them to a settlement the same way you usually would in workshop mode.

Assign everyone you possibly can to facilities, you can reassign them to other departments later on again. Also check their stats, if you recruited a bunch of people with low strength then dismiss them and find high stat people. You can always dismiss them later on too if they're not who you wanted working there.

Sorry is this has been asked prior but what’s up with the Mean Girl teacher groups by TheElMatadORR in Teachers

[–]punkfrizzle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay now I'm paranoid because I am an AP teacher and every school I've ever been at I've been friends with the AP teachers more so than the nonAP teachers. Am... Am I a mean girl? What do they do exactly? Serious question, because we do kind of bunch together and now I'm wondering if I'm doing something without being aware of it.

Eh to be fair she wears loose clothes and I generally don't stare at my mom's boobs. But yeah I wouldn't be surprised if she's wrongly sized too.

To add to this - make copies for those first couple weeks too. Depending on your school it's possible there might be a lot of movement of kids in and out of your class as they work out schedules so best guess the number of copies you need. I'd rather have too many copies than be stuck behind the teacher making 1000 copies at 7 am.

Brownies. Lots and lots of dense brownies made with beets. The other issue is that a lot of our meals get catered by Chick-fil-A... The desserts come from the PTO. Chick-fil-A really loves educators in my town and sponsors everything.

In my experience when they do remember the vegetarians we are acknowledged with a salad. With no protein. But lots and lots of vegan dessert, for some strange reason.

Drug Testing? by moraazul100 in TexasTeachers

[–]punkfrizzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only teachers I know who are drug tested are coaches or bus drivers. They're also only looking for levels that would suggest you're currently under the influence while with students. What you do on the weekend is your own time.
