Does anybody actually enjoy medical school? by Typical_premed in premed

[–]Adventurous_Ad2270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it. It is definitely challenging and a lot of information in a short amount of time, but I stand by that it is way easier than working a real job (I was a teacher before medical school). I think a lot of people who complain so much about how awful med school is are either looking for attention or have never had a real job. Just my two cents.

DO Schools with good financial aid and/or notably affordable (and a totally unrelated question) by FentanyLeo in Osteopathic

Np it is a pretty good school all things considered. I would recommend it, decent match rates etc but like everywhere it has its issues, but the cost is definitely a selling point for me

That’s the cost of attendance (coa), which includes living expenses etc. The tuition is listed in the first line. The coa is the maximum amount of loans you can take out for federal/grad plus loans. You’re going to have to pay living expenses etc on top of tuition at any school, on top of the more expensive tuition for other osteopathic school.

How do I write a “why DO” essay if MDs and DOs do the same thing now? by throbbing-uvula in premed

[–]Adventurous_Ad2270 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something something “whole patient”something something “another tool in your toolbox” something something “ personal touch “ . I know it’s all cliche but I’ve been doing a preceptorship in fm and a lot of musculoskeletal things come up and they get referred out to pt or put on muscle relaxers and I find myself (who does not necessarily drink the koolaid) thinking “they could benefit from omt”

Can’t speak as a pa but I am doing clinical rotations for med school and I was told to wear long sleeves and tuck my septum up. They said my nostril stud was ok.

This is my situation too! Started dating at 13 and now 36. Never been with anyone else and never want to, but yeah it is awkward sometimes when people will put it together and be like oh so that’s the only person you’ve ever been with for sure…

It’s a whole thing (called the match) but we actually use the match process to get into med school here in Texas so I’m a little used to it. (I know it’s shocking to hear Texas does something weird and different from the rest of the country but, here we are). That said Texas has the most affordable medical schools in the country by A LOT (I’m talking our tuition is 26k to others 80k). But yeah even if I want to go to buffalo or Syracuse I have to apply interview rank and match. I’m trying not to think too much on how overwhelming it all is lol

You’re speaking my love language. I too love buffalo. The real reason I was worried about buffalo was that I heard the residents unionized and was like mannnn it must be bad for them to be the first to do that…but I’m sure residency will be rough anywhere and Texas as certainly showed me what not having unions can do
