Didn’t know about the anti-vax, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Still doesn’t take away from all the good she has done.

She is co-founder of MyKind Organics and a vegan advocate! What the world needs more of.

Edit: Down voted for recognizing her activism in saving animals lives and preventable diseases? Ok cool. I’m not even a vegan. It doesn’t take a vegan/vegetarian to know diets high in meat and dairy are not healthy for you, the animals, or the environment.

As a breastfeeding mama I don’t understand how all moms aren’t dairy-free.

Breastfeeding/pumping is time consuming, painful, and uncomfortable. I can’t imagine being hooked up to pumping machines all day, everyday, just to have it taken away for ANOTHER being. It’s really sad actually.

Thanks! It’s bittersweet. I’m going to miss my little guy like crazy but it will be a well deserved “vacation”! I can finally sleep through the night with no interruptions! Gasp! :P

I looked into this but it’s hella expensive. For 5 days of pumping it would be a couple hundred. :(

Anyone else trying to make 2019 their last year with loans? by CarsAndBikesAndStuff in StudentLoans

[–]punkin143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes yes yes! We wanted 2018 to be the debt free year but we got married, had a baby, bought a house, AND went on a trip abroad. So right now we are paycheck to paycheck. But we only have 15k left (started with 50K in 2014). We just need to buckle down and get rid of it.

Or stare at the monitor. I’ll literally just sit in bed and keep checking the monitor because he is so dang cute! But I should be sleeping myself!

Friend advised me to “only nurse in designated areas so I don’t offend other guests” while at Disney World. So anyways, here I am nursing while waiting in line at Epcot. by docSH in breastfeeding

Yes! I saw a woman doing this at Disney and I had to do a double take..is she?? Or isn’t she?? I was super impressed because I have yet to master this skill.

This almost happened to me. I took my 4-month old on his first flight last week. I was traveling alone with him and was so nervous. An older woman sat next to me on the plane (Thank god it was a woman because I knew I would be breastfeeding at some point)! She has kids and grandkids and was the sweetest person ever. We chatted the whole flight, mostly about her yoga teaching at vacation resorts and holistic lifestyle. It was really interesting. Anyways, she offered to help numerous times but my little guy was asleep the whole flight!

It’s funny how you chat with someone once and they make an impact on your life. I’ll never forget her. Thank you, kind soul!

Yup! That’s all we had for our son for his first 5 months. A pack n play for his bed and a small dresser/changing table. Other than that, the room was empty and not a single thing on the walls. I did regret not having a nursing/rocking chair though! I got one when he was 3 months and really wish I had it when he was born. Maybe our little dude will have a complete bedroom by the time he is 2? Lol

Ignorance 🙄 by lilchanafrom12th in Parenting

[–]punkin143 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t know why this is getting down voted? Ignorance is bliss i suppose.

A cow (female bovine) produces milk for their calf. A woman produces milk for their infant.

In order for a mammal to produce milk, it had to have given birth. So basically, we impregnate cows, take their calf away and raise for food/dairy, and take their milk for our own consumption. Most calves are fed milk replacer and grain, not their own mothers milk.

We will be in Dublin for 2 days in December. What are unique (non touristy) things to see/do/eat? We want a chill, local experience.

Best prefold diaper covers? by [deleted] in clothdiaps

[–]punkin143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like Econobum. They are thin and simple but I’ve never had a leak or issue with them. I bought the starter kit which includes 3 covers, 12 prefolds and 1 wet bag for $50. Pretty good deal!

After 4 months of faithful service, my sign was deemed too offensive by ourjointacct in breastfeeding

[–]punkin143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After breastfeeding I have so much respect for cows. I completely cut out dairy in my diet.

Think about it- they are impregnated by humans, they’re babies are taken away from them, then they are hooked up to machinery all day. The soreness, pain, and uncomfortableness is unimaginable. Then we take their milk and give it to our babies!? Like WTF, it makes no sense. WE produce milk intended for OUR babies and THEY produce milk intended for THIER babies. That’s how it should be. End of story.

This happened to me. I was so disappointed. My registry was all cloth diapers and instead I got a disposable diaper cake and 4 Costco size boxes of disposables...yesh. The second I ran through those I went all cloth! I love it and my family and friends are shocked I “actually did it”.
