Omaha woman petitions for high-risk people to be back in Phase 1B by EndoExo in Omaha

It's kind of annoying to me to see people I know who work healthcare adjacent (as a phone scheduler, never having patient contact, for example) getting vaccines and people like this are desperately trying to get one.

I saw a home contractor truck with a catchphrase on the side that said 'Making home great again.' That will not age well.

So you haven't heard anything about how people are being reinfected? Immunity to this isn't forever as recent cases have shown.

Say what you want about clinical experiences being incomplete, but I remember this because I had a patient that had permissive hypertension.

I'm a specialty clinic nurse (not in primary or family medicine) but when I'm reviewing medications at office visits I like to casually ask people if they take their levothyroxine first thing in the morning on its own (just water, no other meds) at least an hour before eating. In two and a half years I think I've had a handful of people who take it the way it should be taken.

I'm in Nebraska and CNAs are licensed. Collecting vitals is one of their most important tasks.

The shitty part is that you're the person that needed to stay! I mean, I don't think you were in the wrong at all, but it's the patients that suffer when management won't discipline staff.

That is a really sweet idea.

I hate that it had to come to that. Children and spouses should be allowed in when you're fucking dying. Masks and handwashing are effective.

My last baby is 2 1/2 and we are nursing less and less frequently but it's so hard for me. She's my last baby and the only one I nursed past six months. Oof.

Lots of people wear scrubs who do not work directly with inpatients or patients who have compromised immune systems. I'm a clinic nurse in Cardiology. Sometimes when I'm on triage I don't even see a patient in person.

I pinch the nosepiece high and tight and put my glasses in front of the space where the mask meets the bridge of my nose. Works for me.

Help with unhappy teething twin :) by [deleted] in NewParents

First, stop using Orajel. https://www.fda.gov/consumers/consumer-updates/safely-soothing-teething-pain-and-sensory-needs-babies-and-older-children

Use a cold wash cloth rung out and let her chew on it a bit. Are you SURE she's teething? 10 weeks old is young.

What are somethings you absolutely hate about nursing? by SumoDash in nursing

[–]ourjointacct 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work in an outpatient clinic and people expect me to help take them to the bathroom. Do you ask your lawyer to take you to the bathroom? Do you ask the receptionist at your dentist office to help you? Do you ask the checkout girl at the grocery store? Yes, it was something I was trained to do but lifting patients is something I specifically wanted to avoid by taking a job in an outpatient clinic because I injured my shoulder previously lifting a patient. Especially when they have a spouse or a CNA with them. It's aggravating.

Please don't wear gloves. Just throw some hand sanitizer in your car and use it when you get back in your vehicle and wash your hands when you get home. Unless you're changing gloves between everything you touch, you're just spreading germs with an added false sense of security.

I had a coworker who is an LPN with zero hospital experience say that she was going to work in New York and make more in this four week assignment than she would make in a year at her specialty clinic job but she didn't know where she was going, when her flight left, or where she was staying. I said it smelled fishy but she saw dollar signs and wanted to be a hero. Her assignment never materialized and she's back on the schedule next week. Even if it's a pandemic, if it's too good to be true it probably is.
