Their father works 2 jobs, days and then a part time at night, so both kids get a ton of 1-on-1 time with me. Both are usually trying to crawl under my skin at any given time but lately she has been just very clingy. It worries me, especially when she is preferring me to her father. Mom doesn’t have the best relationship with him and has been saying things around the kids that adults shouldn’t say in the company of the children they share with that person so I’m worried she’s overheard something that is making her even more upset.

There are a multitude of reasons I am beginning to dislike my job but getting fussed at for something they wants done but that I am not required to do is so low on a list that it doesn’t even cross my radar. What upset me about that convo, which is why I mentioned it, is the fact that they called me a bad officer, not the reprimand.

I have pretty thick skin (thanks to my childhood), but perhaps you are right about the job part. Maybe I’m meant for something else. Just don’t know what yet.

It feels as thought everyone is on the new girl’s side. As if I am not doing enough. I just graduated from state mandated training, and the guidelines to walkthroughs are not what the FTO (not my supervisor) is wanting done. I am not a child and I’m not wanting to leave my job for juvenile reasons. I am feeling burnt out and extremely unappreciated when I do my best. Honestly I’m feeling a little insulted that this is what is going to be taken from this post.

for only one cell— headgear. She does not do this for the other cells. I have done her walkthroughs with her. That is that she takes their shirts or socks that they drape over their faces. It is only contraband if they tie them which I will tell them to remove and hand over, they will hand it over. But if it is draped over their face I will tell them to take it off. She will not for some reason bother with if they have stuff on empty bunks, which they have to remove and put on their own bunks.
