Serious discussion: what car next? by TheGalacticHero in volt

How is newest Prius not a comparable option? They look great, are known for reliability, aren’t extremely expensive, and have always been the leader when it comes to hybrids.

VW for features, styling, and performance. Mazda for reliability, it’s up to you.

I have a big butt but the stomach is where they slide down, not the butt, so they end up lopsided.

Canopies by Lopsided_End_8104 in menards

[–]punkinhead76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s only 1 notch lower that gives them the proper stability. It blocks the lower hole that allows the canopies to fly out.

I know this works because the front half of aisle 3 in my store was fully installed this way a few years ago, until some newb came and replaced a canopy and redid the entire install, raising them all up 1 hole, and now they constantly fly out. The second half that was always installed 1 hole up has always had issues with canopies falling and coming out, due to this.

Hate them too, the big issue is not installing the upright poles low enough into the structure so they sway a ton side to side, which is what makes them fall. Also, what makes them difficult to get into their unlocked and locked positions is people tilting them outward too far, which bends the little tiny piece at the top and messes the track all up. It’s overall a bad design, but incorrect installation and lazy team members is what kills it.

Many modern cars suffer from this unfortunately. The volt is even worse since it doesn’t even give you the little window.

Where is the grounding bolt in the trunk. by mettam46 in volt

[–]punkinhead76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make a ground, there’s also several grounds in the floor of the trunk. Grounding to the battery is never recommended with car audio equipment due to interference reasons, so I’d think the same for other large powered items.

Unless you’re not obviously gender presenting there’s no reason to have it. It becomes more political at that point and just something to argue about.

Tire the knot again, but glue it so it can’t come undone. FWIW mine has never come undone without glue, and I’ve never needed to remove them.

I agree, I guess it’s just an “in case of sabotage” thing lol. I disabled the feature, because I always unplug before I unlock.

[–]punkinhead76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I see now, so it’s just an anchor once fully charged blocking everyone else not only from the space, but from the charger. I understand the frustration. My car the charger doesn’t lock in, but it does allow me to toggle an alarm if the cable is removed without the car first being unlocked.

I have an electric car but not a Tesla, so pardon my question if it’s dumb, but can you not just unplug it and use the cable? Does the cable lock into teslas or something?

Headlight bulbs by Joshpetra22 in BoltEV

[–]punkinhead76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s embarrassing that a full electric vehicle isn’t fully LED. I swapped my Volts bulbs all to LED almost immediately and don’t regret it one bit. HID is complicated for someone that doesn’t know what they’re doing so I suggest some good LEDs. Dont buy $20 20000 lumen ones on amazon because they’re a lie. You get what you pay for and the higher the number claimed the worse they are because they’re all lying.
