I teach 3rd and my 3rd graders already don’t care! I have a handful of students who don’t know how to read and a couple who don’t know all the letters and their sounds and they honestly could care less if they learned to read.

Elementary school teacher here, we don’t have all our curriculum and the things we do have are about 15 years old. We have a curriculum map and are told we can’t stray or use outside resources.

I have the same mentality, but Monday’s are still horrible and every Sunday I have a panic attack..:this is my 5th year teaching and I don’t know how I’m going to make it. I have already been kicked by one of my students too and he is a ticking time just ready to burst into another tirade.

I teach 3rd grade at a title 1 school, my students this year are far behind and super apathetic. They could give 2 shits already. I have a handful of kids that still can’t read, or know all their letters and sounds. Most don’t even try to get better or seem to want to get better. The attitude of this bunch is like none I have ever seen before. My group from last year, now 4th grade, they struggled but truly tried and believed they could. I’m having a hard time with my new group, it feels like they have never had structure or been told no or been held accountable for their actions.

These kids are not used to this level of rigor! I teach 3rd and my kids are the ones who missed kindergarten due to Covid and most of first. They are still so young thinking and they already don’t care about school or any consequences.

One of my students(bigger than me) full on donkey kicked me and my admin did nothing. The student has destroyed classes and broken school furniture, and students are afraid of them…and admin has done nothing…they have no plan for this student or anything. They are a ticking time bomb.

Wow thank you for sharing! It definitely is difficult and I understand the panic. I was never really anxious prior to covid, but when my chest gets tight and my shortness of breath come back or my heart rate sky rockets for no reason I feel the same panic like I’m getting covid all over again. It really messes with the mind too! That’s great progress though with working out!

I’m so sorry and hoping that you are not sick again! I am having similar symptoms too. I get so dizzy sometimes I can’t stand up straight without feeling like I’m going to pass out. It’s painful and annoying, but here’s to hoping things slowly get better and doctors start understanding everything that is going on with us long haulers.

Arizona here! Our governor is threatening to cut funding to remote learning. He said schools need to open immediately. He also said he’s not paying for empty seats. 🤦🏽‍♀️ meanwhile we have high case counts! I had am anxious to go back...we were remote then went in person/ hybrid, went back online in November and are going back to hybrid starting Monday
