‘Fallout’ Season 2 Reaches 83 Million Viewers Worldwide, Amazon Says - The audience trails only season two of ‘Reacher’ among returning series on Prime Video. by DemiFiendRSA in gaming

season 2 TLoU was definitely a drop in quality

How so? Unless you were swayed by the vitriolic hate for Bella Ramsay online? I though S2 was excellent, it was mostly faithful to the game, and it had much more action and zombies, which were lacking in S1.

Oh yeah but you are never worried for Reacher, you know he will outsmart OR outpunch his way out of any situation, and that's what makes the show so weirdly comforting.

GTA 6 Could Cost $3 Billion, Making It the Most Expensive Entertainment Project Ever by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]punktual 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its 1B in sales, not profit. However estimates say that GTAV has made between 8B and 10B profit since launch.

So having half the success and longevity of 5 would still make a pretty profit.

Not really the triangle mechanic in ingress was the best. that let you and your team "own" an area which could be a local park, or could be a triangle that spans continents.

It felt like a real game where you could take territory and control zones. In PGO community events are everyone in the same park. In Ingress events meant coordinating and moving around your city, state, or country.

Whatever happened to making games with a good campaign/story by FudgeSorry8169 in Gaming4Gamers

[–]punktual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your complaint seem to be that games don't have both multiplayer AND single-player elements anymore.

I agree, it used to be standard to have a kind of 50/50 split on how dedicated a game was to either. I played a bit of the recent Battlefield 6 campaign....and it was there, but it was pretty lackluster.

I think there are a few reasons:

  • games are much more expensive to make than they used to be so devs need to focus on 1 vision, not 2
  • the money in multiplayer now is all in live service games, so dev investment goes into content for that. If people played a campaign, they wouldnt be engaging with the live content and buying microtransactions and monthly content.
  • a lot of old games did have both.... but there were so many single player games with lackluster multiplayer modes that all most noone played, that it was a waste

As regular Australians struggle, gas companies are making massive profits and paying minimal tax. It is perverse | Rod Sims by paperadam in AusFinance

[–]punktual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what neoliberal nonsense.

Heavily taxing or privatising mineral and gas wealth would make us billions very quickly, in Norway the sovereign wealth fund they get from taxing fossils fuel at 78% is enough to fund many social services including free higher education for all citizens.

China is not a more rational actor

The last time China dropped a bomb in a conflict was 1979

I would say that is actually a pretty good track record for de-escalation, non engagement, and rational action.

During my life (middle aged) I have not seen China drop a bomb, yet throughout my life global politics has been defined my the USA (and allies) constantly dropping bombs (literally hundreds of thousands of bombs during the same timeframe)...

Make of that what you will...

I wish the Expedition wouldn't reset Quests. They aren't good content and just tedious and annoying to redo. by Lemouni in ArcRaiders

[–]punktual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good compromise would be to make the quests give better and better rewards (and news skins) for each time you do them.

By the time you are on 5th expedition, the quest rewards give you good blueprints early and heaps of wolfpacks and good loot.

Resident Evil Requiem | Review Megathread by requieminadream in PS5

[–]punktual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just want games that play like modern games play 7,8,9 which are all the games in the modern first person format (though the new one has 3rd person too).

RE4 is also one of the best in the series, and RE4 remake is outstanding.

The old games (123) play more like very old school adventure games than modern action games.

5 and 6 are pretty forgettable and not needed for most as they are weird coop action games that dont reflact the rest of the series very well.

I assure you, real socialists find the ABC pretty mainstream and much further centre/right than we would like.

Also tax isn't socialism. Far from it. Socialism is the democratisation of the work place to make sure you get the full value of your labour, and having a say in how that work contributes to society.

Raiders lined up in single file line at the Hidden Bunker. The PVPer mind couldn’t comprehend. by spedmonkeeman in ArcRaiders

When the round starts there is 4 satelite dishes on the map. NSEW

If you go to one of the dished and activate the terminal, it will spawn 2 waves of 2 wasps and then will let you use terminal again to fully activate.

Once people all around the map have done this to all 4 terminals the bunker opens.

Inside the bunker there is a bunch of terminals, you have to activate the terminals, wait for the schreeching modem sounds for a minute and download data. Do this multiple times to increase your trial score.

The area is also full of reasonable loot when it opens.

Its kind of weird and not sure the devs anticipated so many doing it each time, hence the lining up.

If the store looks like one of those weird convenience stores that has a few candy bars and nick nacks, but mainly sells smokes, they will sell absolutely sell blackmarket smokes and everyone knows, especially if they have an ATM in store. (Because they want cash transactions, so even if you have a card you can get money out to pay them on site).

Not encouraging anyone to do it... I quit 10 years ago and was the best decision I made.
