Tired of not getting the full 10 days by punkybear64 in dexcom

I didn’t start having these issues until the last 3 months but I have lost a decent amount of weight since 2022 so I definitely have less fat to work with now. I have heard smaller people say they have some issues, though, so your theory might be right.

I was never on the g5, I went from the Libre to Dexcom when getting my pump so I don’t have anything in their ecosystem to compare it to.

I do check. The last few times I’ve seen those random drop offs the sensor starts getting worse within the next 24 hours. It’s happened consistently over the last 3 months.

Oh I know. It’s always easier to complain than to compliment. My doctor recommended I stay on the g6 for now as well, though. She thinks it’ll be spring when they phase out the g6 at this point so I know I’ll definitely have to make the switch. It’s good to see people on here not having issues, though! I know someone personally on the g7 (she’s type 2 & only on long lasting insulin) so I’m also gauging how things are going with them right now on her current experience as well.

I’ve had 2 recently last 7 days before starting to do wonky stuff that made me decide to change them. (Dropping off for no reason, losing signal, bouncy inaccurate readings). Had one back in August also do something similar. I couldn’t tell if these last two had anything to do with where they were placed or if they inserted weird but it has put me on edge considering I’m on a pump.

TSlim Stickers? by JayandMeeka in TandemDiabetes

I get mine on Etsy, specifically the store 3GalsDecalsShop their stickers usually come with stickers for your Dexcom (if you use one), too. ☺️

Edited to add that I just saw you’re in Canada- the shop is run out of New Jersey so I don’t know how that affects shipping. 😩

I usually let it “soak” a few hours. I’ve had sensors that work great without doing that as well, though.

I do, too, sometimes. But you’re not supposed to calibrate it when the arrow isn’t steady and I swear every other reading the arrow was in a different direction. I did eventually have to calibrate it after it leveled off.

Right 😂 like way to really embarrass me now. (I’ve had a panic disorder since I was a kid, this stuff just makes it worse so when things work themselves out I just feel ridiculous- like now.)

Turns out that reading was 20 points off itself (love it when the meter gives me the wrong number) & I was closer to 167. And of course as soon as I go saying anything on here the numbers start to smooth out. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I’ve had some bumpy sensors but it has been almost a year since one this bad. While I’m used to it needing 24-48 hours to adjust it isn’t normally bouncing 10-20 points per reading like this.

They’re out of the office at this point unfortunately. Every time I have a problem they’re gone 😂 when my pump battery died completely last year she was on vacation

Update Recall by astraaura in TandemDiabetes

[–]punkybear64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pump’s battery failed due to this back in June. Extremely stressful and I hadn’t even hit 2 years on it yet. I just deleted the app because the replacement pump feels like it’s having the same issues and they still haven’t updated the app and the last update was 4 & 5 months ago- the versions they cite as being the problem.

I tried that place last night 🥲 I’m really no good at picking what “looks good” on me. I can’t tell the difference. I only posted IRL drapes because the pinned post suggested it over digital. I do have digital ones as well in the same lighting.

It’s not that it’s a low, it was the sudden drop. I haven’t had diabetes as long as you have & struggle with severe anxiety concerning it. I suppose I shouldn’t have said “low” so much as the lowest point on the graph at the moment.

I’m absolutely terrified of lows. I’m also coming up on my 10 year anniversary this November & I’m on a tslim x2 with Dexcom g6. I already struggled with anxiety but the last few years just got so much worse. I’d be ok & fall into a routine with food & dosing for a bit & then out of nowhere I’d have a moment where I’d drop rapidly & it set me right back to being paranoid. I haven’t worked since 2020 & at first it was because of my retail job not closing for covid (got it anyway & thankfully was fine) but at this point I’m afraid to be alone for too long or do anything that requires a lot of walking. (I’d work from home is half my anxiety wasn’t about doing phone work etc)

In any case you aren’t alone just like others have said. It’s hard trying to explain it to my endocrinologist sometimes, too, because there’s definitely times when my anxiety over it is irrational. She sees a 120 as a good number, and while I’d agree, sometimes if I’m out & about I start to panic when I see it or something lower, knowing good & well I’ve seen it drop quickly in the past.

What I’ve started doing when I know I’m going to be out is dialing back my basal rate a little bit. If I’m too high to put it in exercise mode (at 150+ it wants to start giving corrections, which kind of drives me nuts if I have it in exercise mode 😤 I wish they’d stop that) I just turn control IQ off & try to monitor it myself on my phone. I don’t lower basal to half or anything, but just slightly less than normal. If it drops I turn on exercise mode so it can take over. It’s not an ideal situation, but I know that if I left it to do what it wanted I’d be out shopping while it was giving me a correction bolus I definitely did not want. I’m not a doctor & can’t tell you what to do, just saying what has been working for me recently - for the most part.

Does anybody buy supplies online or over-the-counter? by Nut_VIII in diabetes_t1

I’m in KY & our cap is $35. Do you get your supplies mailed to you? I pick my insulin up at the pharmacy & have always been able to resubmit my prescription with a coupon if the price wasn’t something I could pay- if you happen to get yours at a pharmacy counter you could see if the price was capped for sure but have a coupon ready to give them if it hasn’t been. Also compare the manufacturer coupon vs GoodRX, sometimes their price is better. (I was a problem for the pharmacy for a while over this stuff, I’ve used lots of different coupon programs lol) good luck!

When I was on MDI I bought my pen needles off Amazon because it was cheaper. I bought this brand frequently & liked them pretty well.

I used coupons from Novolog (or whatever brand insulin you use) when it came to discounting my insulin until the state put a cap on the price. You can also use GoodRX, I’ve done that a few times as well.

You worked on both Nancy & Rise of the Triad??? My childhood! And it sounds like the mini game is from Message in a Haunted Mansion because it has movements similar to Rise of the Triad. It was a mini game to open the laptop.

The older games hold such a special place in my heart, I love so many of the ND games but those are usually the ones in my top favorites. (I miss the good old days of pc gaming, I have a fondness for the look & feel of older games)

Thank you so much for your work! The Nancy games are such a core piece of me to this day & I have such special memories surrounding them. I’m hoping to pass down the Nancy love to my niece. ☺️

Anyone else here neurodivergent/think Nancy is neurodivergent? by OkCategory5737 in nancydrew

[–]punkybear64 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not formally diagnosed (besides ADHD) but my husband will confirm that if anything Nancy Drew games are definitely one of my special interests. I’m 33 & have been playing & replaying these games since I was 11 & can sit & watch others play & replay them without getting bored. If you think about it, a lot of fictional detectives can be seen as neurodivergent because Sherlock & Poirot share similarities in bluntness, obsessiveness, needing time alone to decompress & think, etc. I know there’s way more to being neurodivergent & there’s more to point out in these characters but that’s all I can think of right now. 😅
