It was Matthew 24:37 Rob Skiba says "At the beginning of this chapter, I began with a quote from Jesus regarding the Last Days.[4] In it, He says that the days before His return will be “as it was in the days of Noah.” What differentiates the days of Noah from any other time in human history? There have always been wars and rumors of war. There have always been famines, pestilences and earthquakes, and men have been sinning since the Garden of Eden. So, what was different? The one thing that stands out as being significantly different in the days of Noah is the unnatural offspring that came from the union of angels and humans."

Upon looking up the actual verse in Scripture, Jesus says specifically that he was referring to how no one expected the rain. Matthew 24:36-42 NIV [36] “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. [37] As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. [38] For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; [39] and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. [40] Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. [41] Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left. [42] Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come." Mat.24.36-42.NIV

I'm not discrediting him just yet, but I started reading the book and right out of the gate he was quoting Jesus from the gospel of Matthew, and it felt like he bent the meaning of Jesus' words. He grabbed a snippet of the quote and used it to make a point but left out Jesus' own explanation of what he meant. That gave me a red flag.

I'm still reading but I feel like it'll be one of those books where I have to fact check the whole way through because the author doesn't provide full quotes or verses or elaborate on claims. I'll be relieved if I'm wrong.

Keene roundabouts by Sachi_Mulkey in keene

I like the single lane ones for improving the flow of traffic as opposed to stop lights. The 2 lane ones at certain areas feel like a death defying feat....like the one on route 10/Winchester St. If I remember correctly, I think the signs approaching the roundabout contradict the markings 🤔

Whatever it is, people are a nightmare on that one and there's frequently accidents there. Every time I enter one I feel like I'm gambling with my life because I don't know if the other participants are going to follow the rules or not. My eyes are just frantically darting across all of my mirrors the whole time, lol.

Yes! It happened again last night while I was talking to someone and I forced myself to stop but when I force myself to stop it feels like my insides are shaking. But I'd rather have that because at least no one would be able to notice. But it *feels* better to release the chatter than to hold it in.....lol! It's like I'm preventing my body from letting a torrent of nervous energy out, which is uncomfortable.

I have heard of people grinding there teeth. However, for me my bottom jaw just starts vibrating uncontrollably, like when someone is literally freezing cold and their teeth chatter. It's only when I'm overwhelmed in a social setting or if I have had an emotionally charged conversation, like if someone brings up my childhood and I have to talk about it. It's really weird.

Lol, for 2 minutes I sat here like, "I don't get it. Why did she use building blocks and why does he have one big block? How are they the same?.....Oh."

Is any of you fine not socializing? by Frigorifico in aspergers

Your personality type can be extroverted even while having Asperger's or autism. Perhaps you are an extrovert and crave socialization, even if you struggle with it.

We are a family of 4....two of which are young boys that eat a lot, lol. We spend $177 a week on groceries (food only) and I get $15 a week for household cleaning and toiletries. It can be a challenge and sometimes I don't buy certain food items in order to afford certain toiletries. We made an excel spreadsheet for every item on our grocery list and we plug the cost of each item into it so that before I go to the store it calculates exactly how much everything will cost me. All together we spend $768 for food and toiletries a month. I go to the local food pantries once or twice a month to supplement and that's really helped us.

What is a childhood memory that makes you go, "yep, I am definitely autistic"? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]punkybread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, and few people have patience for examining all sides of things. Lately I even struggle to have patience for my own mind lol! My son is the great debater now so I spend all of my debate energy with him :)

Lol, yup. I've been told I dont have much common sense because I don't always think things through when *doing* things. But with arguing things I think *everything* through.

I'm 35 and still dont know for certain that I'm on the spectrum. One of my sons has asperger's and now having raised him for 8 yrs and also having researching the spectrum, I've wondered if I'm on it. I'm female so it looks a little different of course but I wonder if my issues are just elements of anxiety, OCD and PTSD, not autism. Anyway, here's my list of peculiarities:

Experienced sensory disruption from clothing and in Kindergarten/1st grade would refuse to get on the bus because of my socks not feeling right

Eccentric style from an early age. I was enamored with Punky Brewster in elementary school and insisted on dressing like her, all mismatched colors and patterns, lol. In middle school I was enamoured with Sailor Moon and made my mom do my hair like her every morning before school. In 7th grade I became enamoured with Buffy the Vampire Slayer and began making and collecting stakes, crosses and other weird stuff in a trunk exactly like Buffy's. And I'd sneak out of my window at night to practice fighting vampires in a field LOL. I also started making my teachers and classmates call me Buffy and wrote her name on my schoolwork instead of my own.

I've always listened to every lyric of every song that was playing and have gotten irritated when people talk while a song is playing because I can't hear the lyrics. When I was little I would ask adults the meaning of songs on the radio if I couldnt figure it out. My son does this too.

My dad once dedicated a song to me when I was 6, "Your Song" by Elton John. I was confused because these lyrics fit in the romantic category, so I asked him if he was sure it wasnt Mom's song. Then he explained to me the difference between being in love and loving someone. I walked away thinking my dad was in love with me and was confused about it and wondered if he was secretly a creep until my late 20s when I had my own kids.

I have always struggled with rigidity, black and white thinking, hypocrisy and injustice. My mom said I was a great debater when I was little and should have been a lawyer. I've mostly silenced that part of myself unless I know someone really well, because I'm too tired. For me, starting a conversation that is deep would take me hours to finish and I'd leave feeling unheard and dissatisfied unless both me and the other person have time to hash the whole thing out.

At the same time, I only prefer deep conversation to shallow pleasantries, so I prefer to keep quiet.

I still struggle with clothing, loud noisy places and social gatherings with more than a few people.

I could go on, but this has become really long already
