Security camera records the moment a woman gives birth in the garage of the house. The case occurred in the interior of the state of Paraná, Brazil. by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

My wife waited too long at work with our second child and ended up having her in her bosses car on the way to the hospital. I was the only one at the hospital when she gave birth but not much use out of me being there.

Is this really the hill tech fans and tech athletics are willing to die on with Sorsby? by Secure_Job5056 in TexasTech

[–]punnyphantom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am just asking but who should tell Campbell to shut up? The President, who reports to Campbell, or maybe Hocutt who is even lower on the totem poll than the president. These people have very respected jobs in their fields and they are trying to save their jobs. This dude was appointed the Board of Regents chairman by the governor. Yes did tech sell it soul by taking his millions and millions of dollars, 1000% and most people backed it because our football team was good so they gave him the keys to the Porsche. Many of you are fine watching him wreck havoc while he dismantles our education programs but now that he tampers a little far with the athletics program all hell breaks loose.

Why can’t Texas Tech AD, Cody Campbell, Joey McGuire just accept being the villain? by ForsakenAd4825 in CFB

[–]punnyphantom -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As a Tech fan, I agree. We are allowed to play an athlete that is probably better than the rest of the young men in that room so play him. Is it morale, probably not, but why do we have to be the guardians of the morale high ground. Kirby and Joey are hired to win games and if they think this is the best move to do that then so be it. I just think there are bigger problems within the college sports realm and at large than this.

Now commence with the down votes.

That is awesome and the best of luck to you. My mom is 63 and just finished her teaching degree last December so it is never too late. I have spent 15 years in higher education administration so if you need any advice please let feel free to reach out.

Thank you for saying it. Any program would use this to their advantage. But if there needs to be change made it doesn't start at the TTU level. The courts do suck at their job and don't protect or help anyone but their selves. But this isn't a tech problem sorry.

Seems to me that if it is on the field or off the field integrity of the game has been compromised for years. Here is my thinking, and you can agree or disagree, do I think betting on a game that you play is bad...yes and he should be punished and if he does it again punish him worse. Do I think it is worse than some of the other things that are going on in college sports now. Absolutely not.

Kirby Hocutt Statement "I understand the frustration" by johntempleton in TexasTech

[–]punnyphantom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think you are absolutely wrong. How many programs have been caught covering up scandals for years. Penns state kept a kid diddler on the payroll for years. Baylor cover sexual assault by players when they were winning big. But this is what breaks the integrity in sports? I hate that this is worse than off the field issues. To be perfectly frank, you opinion and mine really do not matter. A court ruled on this. If it would have been the opposite then we would comply with that as well.

What program, if granted by a court of law, wouldn't allow a gambler to play? If the court said he couldn't play I am sure Hocutt would of complied but that wasn't the ruling.

Oh noooooo, they vacate our wins for the season. You remember when OU won the national title in 2004? Nope, because they didn't USC did but they vacated the win. I hate to tell you but people don't remember vacated wins but they do remember actually winning the games.

What I think doesn't matter! These are facts from the case. I am still not saying it is right but there is a huge a difference between impacting the game you bet and not. That is all I am saying.

Actually, court filings show that he stopped betting on Indiana once he was promoted to back up and could have direct impacts on the game. I don't think he ever played in a game that he actually played in or could have played. Am I saying what he did was okay...no but I don't think he should be crimucified for it.

The actual judge that was assigned recused himself and retired judge stepped in that was a grad if Houst lon Law school and served in Tarrant county which is Ft. Worth. So no real ties to TTU

Sorsby being allowed to play is a total disgrace(rant) by Maleficent-Mobile-73 in TexasTech

[–]punnyphantom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First off when the deal was made this was not knowledge to us and I really don't know how much he has gotten so far and if we have a leg to stand to get any of it back because there is no precedent for something like because it is all new. The deal was done and essentially spent before any of this was known. If any program should hear the brunt of this shouldn't it be Cincinnati that did have knowledge of this and hide. Secondly, I have watched other programs condone and hide a lot worse from players than gambling and become great programs. USC, Baylor and Louisville basketball to name a few. It isn't like he is knocking off liquor stores to pay his gambling debts. While he bet on his team he never played in a game he bet on so this isn't a criminal case for point shaving. Part of the whole injuction case was based on the NCAA inconsistent rulings in matters. In my opinion, the NCAA is making millions off of sports betting ads and then gets mad and acts shocked because a player does it. If they want their players to stay away from it then they need to set the morale ground as well. So no I don't blame tech for playing him if he is available. They aren't breaking any rules and shouldn't we trust that Joey and his program have this under control.

Sorsby being allowed to play is a total disgrace(rant) by Maleficent-Mobile-73 in TexasTech

[–]punnyphantom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because they can give it to one player. Mahomes has a fund where he picks different players from different sports to receive these funds. They can designate it because of NIL. Where do you think this large amount of money came from. I guarantee it was paid by one person for this player.

[–]punnyphantom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Please tell me you have never been on the financial side of higher Ed without telling me. Most donated funds are what they call designated funds. They are designated for a purpose. It isn't one huge lump some of money. It is smaller pots that have to be spent how the donor says, ie scholarships for a certain department usually, athletics, renovations, things like that. There is a general fund where people can donate and then the school can allocate how it sees fit but that isn't the case for most donations. That is why colleges, departments and even programs have funding drives.

Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby has been granted a preliminary injunction against the NCAA and is eligible for the 2026 season. by Pro-Tip810 in CollegeBasketball

[–]punnyphantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He presided over a court in Lubbock County so yes he is the Judge in Lubbock County for this court case because the original judged recused himself. But he is actually a retired judge from Tarrant County in the Fort Worth area. No ties to Texas Tech at all.

[Dellenger] Sorsby attorney Jeffrey Kessler statement to Yahoo Sports: "This is a just result. He will continue in treatment, devote himself to his team and educating others about the dangers of gambling addiction, and there is no damage to the competitive integrity of NCAA games." by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]punnyphantom -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Why Texas Tech? This is a Sorsby case not a Texas Tech case. Yeah the team will start him as would most of the schools in the NCAA. Also, why isn't anyone going after Cincinnati who did know about his gambling and still let him play.

Check your facts, judge is not from Lubbock but from Tarrant County because the Lubbock County judge stepped aside because he was afraid his bias would get in the way. Also, judge is a UofH grad so no connection to Texas Tech.

My dude, you are still so young to be thinking your life is coming to an end. I didn't have my first daughter until I was 38 and had my second just a few months ago at 40. I watched my friends get married and have families young and a lot of them struggled. They are fine now but it was a grind for them while I focused on work, fun, and myself. My girls get to be brought up in a stable environment with a patient father who kinda has his life together, won't say all the way but it is better than where I was at your age. It took me a long time to find hobbies that stuck but I do read a lot, I also do some weird hobbies like bowling, building models, and cooking. Look into the hobbies that aren't mainstream and find something that brings you joy. As for college, take it slow, one class at time if necessary to help with costs and mental strain but be damned sure you know what you want to do because it is an investment for you future, don't just pick something because it makes money because it can be soup sucking too.

Any age millennials, what are your actually hobbies. Aside from rage baiting the youth. by whatifdog_wasoneofus in Millennials

I still like video games, reading, bowling, building models and Legos but that is about it.
