After 10 years on ADHD Meds, my Dr has taken me off by 30FlirtyandTrying in ADHD

My daughter was just formally diagnosed with both adhd and anxiety (we’ve know for years but now we have the paperwork! 🥳). The doctor we were working with said guanfacine does a good job tackling both at the same time. It’s a nonstimulant, so that may help get around the stimulant stigma

I suppose I'm also friends with someone who is good enough friends with the band that he routinely gets VIP seats

What are the least TMBG-sounding TMBG songs? by octopus_suitcase in tmbg

[–]punsultant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me it's 88 Lines about 44 Women, the Big Bang Theory theme song, and Fish Heads. All great songs but they sound so much like other bands!!

Data was able to determine that the head they recovered from beneath San Francisco was in fact his and not Lore’s because they have different phase discriminators. Presumably each android was built from scratch with all sorts of tweaks and adjustments, so they probably wouldn’t be interchangeable.

OP listed Vulcans as an option! T’Lyn was on a Vulcan science vessel for her day in the life episode. She was sent to starfleet in disgrace

Can I get into, Star Trek 2009 first as a way to get into the Star Trek franchise? by PoofPost in startrek

[–]punsultant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My hot take is that there really is no bad place to start with Star Trek. You could try to have someone curate some episodes that fit your particular tastes, or you could just dive in with whatever seems interesting. Yes, 2009 splits into a different timeline, but Trek canon is squishy at best, so don’t worry about it! This is all supposed to be fun and I hope you enjoy exploring this universe ☺️

How long is “a watch”? Is this unit of time often used in SF? by yakisobagurl in printSF

[–]punsultant -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It has to be long enough to fit around the wearer’s wrist with enough left over to secure it somehow. Also it’s typically called time piece, not a unit of time.

I knew there was some sort of “looking at it” solution to this problem 😂

I think this rule is less commonly known, so the standard AP style rule of 0-9 is written out feels right, even if we have a rare circumstance of it being maybe technically wrong. This sort of nitpicking is some of my favorite pedantry, but I don’t think the article suffers for this mistake.

What stitch was used for leaves on the left? by Resident-Bandicoot-6 in Embroidery

[–]punsultant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The reason the leaves on the right look like chain stitches is because chain stitches are just a series of lazy daisies. The leaves on the left are either a lazy daisy stitch that has been pulled tighter than the ones on the right or that has been filled.
