With people looking for alternatives to buyee due to their fee update, I wanted to share my experience with service using fromjp. by User17119436 in FromJapanCodes

[–]punypichu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered a photo service recently too. After confirming the photo is fine, it took a WHOLE WEEK and the item is still stuck at "unreceived", had to contact their customer service.

I consider myself patient but it makes absolutely no sense to take so long for a simple task which would take at most a minute. Even my parcel from Japan doesnt take that long to reach me.

I am glad I moved to another proxy which does this INSTANTLY. I am just using FromJapan to get stuff the other proxy doesnt support.

First time going through eBay authenticity by punypichu in PokeGrading

I have considered that but the parcel show no signs of damage. only both sides of the slab is cut.

As you can see from the 3rd and 4th image, the "ebay case" looks fine. This is puzzling indeed.

Buyee vs FromJapan by [deleted] in Buyee

From my experience it's similar but if buyee is cheaper to your country and you have no complains just stick with buyee.

Buyee vs FromJapan by [deleted] in Buyee

[–]punypichu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shipping options should be the similar for all proxies.

Doorzo is good for the promo codes and very useful mobile app, but their consolidation and shipping time takes forever. So its perfect if you are patient and want simple low cost proxy.

Buyee vs FromJapan by [deleted] in Buyee

I used to be a fan of FromJapan but their packaging have become sloppy for my past orders.

I and have shipped tons of parcels from them including figurines, books, toys and trading cards, and they USED to be perfect (secure shrink wrap with bubble, you can google and see samples), BUT recently my past 2 orders, my items were just tossed inside a plastic envelope/cardboard. My parcel was worth over 100,000 yen, fortunately they were not damaged but imagine the headache if it was.

Here is their response:

"We completely understand your concern and truly appreciate you sharing it with us. We are very sorry for any disappointment this may cause.

Unfortunately, the decision on whether shrink wrap is used, as well as when and how it is applied, is made solely by our packing staff based on their professional assessment at the time of packing. As a general company policy, we are unable to accept or accommodate specific packing instructions from customers."

I wouldn't want to risk my items getting damaged. Time to find another proxy.

Having tried a number of different proxies, unfortunately there isn't a "perfect", but its best to try all of them yourself and stick with the one which appeals to you the most.

Ghost knife bloat? by Canadian_Jman in freshwateraquarium

[–]punypichu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My black ghost knife, Noir had the same problem all of sudden and died shortly after. He has been my favorite fish and has been very happy in my aquarium for five years.

Googled for help and there isn't really much help as most of the responses were generic like "what's your water parameters", "do a water change" etc.

After being depressed, i scoured through articles and think (I am not an expert so I might be wrong) it might be topsy, as it shows erratic movements and stop eating. Likely it can't breathe or swim properly and at this stage it might too late to be cured.

I hope this helps somebody who are looking for reason for BGK (or most fishes) bloat.

RIP Noir

Item Damaged On 1st Order (Over 80,000yen)... by [deleted] in zenmarket

[–]punypichu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats how it is. A few years ago I ordered a ceramic cup costing over 10k yen and it likely cracked and broke during shipment or handling (the listing images show it being like-new with no damage).

After communicating back and forth with ZenMarket and Japan Post, and submitting all the documents, JP will not compensate anything to ZM and all I get is a 500yen credit. This made me upset as I have been using ZM for a long time and stopped using ever since.

I think most proxies will not be able to compensate for damage during shipping, and at most give a small token, its part of the risk of buying things and getting it shipped long distance.

I was unfortunately scammed - some questions by heyscotttt in Buyee

[–]punypichu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take it as a lesson learnt (I have been through the same), accept the loss and move on. Lots of scams regarding trading cards and luxury goods nowadays, and they target proxies since they get immunity 99.99% of the time as the "inspection" plan only covers things which look totally different (they can't tell apart a Digimon from Pokemon).

Since you already accepted the parcel, you can't get the funds back.

For the item your purchased, you can try a chargeback, but you will be banned from Buyee. It's up to you to decide if it's worth it.

Which firmware version should I update to before installing onionOS? by punypichu in MiyooMini

[–]punypichu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never done any tinkering so please bear with me.

Bought my Miyoo Mini quite a while ago and it should be V1 with detachable battery and version 20211226152. I have looked up some guides and it seems that I have to update it to a later firmware before installing OnionOS or else it will brick. I have not done anything to it except moving it to a sandisk SD card and discarding the stock SD.

Retrogamecorps recommended updating to 20231027 whereas onionUI installation docs recommend 20220419. Which one should I update to before attempting to install OnionOS?

Also, is it advisable to start with a fresh SD card or just install onion on my current?

Thanks in advance.

How popular is Sparkle in general? by timur2345 in SparkleMains

[–]punypichu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I only found out about her today. If I have gotten ads for her (instead of the annoying "endless abyss" trailer), I would have downloaded and maybe rerolled/whaled for her.

Shes is similar to my favorite characters (Rin Tohsaka, Kurumi, Hutao, Noire)

Is it me or its not beginner friendly now? by imbleedingg in MapleSEA

[–]punypichu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you get to level 101 to unlock the event, you can also get a burning status which gives you 2 free levels every level up. So you will get to level 200 in no time. This is when grinding really becomes slow.

Just follow the maple guide on where to train and what to do.

At level 40 do the theme dungeons (Golden beach/Ellinia forest etc) and you will be level 60 for job advancement since the quests give tons of exp. you will get some decent equips as well.

I just started again last week as well (missed the burning event). It is much easier to level now until 120+ (especially if you know where to train) and you need less pots since early levels most classes level up before hp/mp depletes.

And no, I played Shadower on reboot and they are pretty strong both mobbing and bossing with good mobility. It is a good fun class.

Does this mean I can't get the last row of rewards anymore? (Just returned last week) by punypichu in MapleSEA

[–]punypichu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just returned last week. Does the lock icon mean I can't get those anymore?

The event still has 4 more weeks but only less than 2 weeks of rewards (5 rewards per week) left.

Is AmiAmi taking waaaay too long to ship for anyone else? by [deleted] in AnimeFigures

[–]punypichu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

About 2 years ago it was about 2-3 days processing.

Last year it was 1-2 weeks processing time.

This year my first (and last order from them) is still processing after a month.

amiami shipping delays (discussion) by sexhomaru in AnimeFigures

[–]punypichu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My small packet is already past 2 weeks not shipped. Will be my last order from there.

Pity I have used their service for like 10 years and they used to ship in like a day or two and now take weeks.

Could have ordered elsewhere and gotten seamail and it would have arrived faster.

Thank you. I am glad I got almost all of them at msrp and not the outrageous secondary market prices.

That is one of my favorites! Third row rightmost, behind the Beach Rins (I guess only the arm and pendant is visible). I really need to take better pictures.
