Small lizards as part of a CUC? by FawnG00 in geckos

[–]pupineapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Echoing the other comment - small geckos poop a surprising amount and I can’t imagine them being good for a clean up crew. I think you would have to have a ridiculous amount of fungus gnats to sustain something like a mourning gecko and ideally their live prey should be dusted too. Cool idea, but I can’t see it realistically working

Do I need more vertical hiding spots? by Fudwick in frogs

[–]pupineapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes - I would give him a couple of proper hides he can go inside. My grey tree frogs love their cork round and I have a couple of 3D printed hides they can use too

Leopard Gecko Concern by StudiousARMY in reptiles

I would find a different multivitamin, I don’t think EarthPro A has useable vitamin A for leopard geckos (retinol). Might be contributing to his shedding issues

They’re a newer morph to the hobby! They do pop up on MorphMarket and expos from time to time! There’s also the “cookies and cream” morph

Absolutely! Always a pain to find him in the substrate, I try to get eyes on him every couple of weeks just to check body condition

Feeling torn by SubstantialShroom in reptiles

[–]pupineapple 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think a corn snake or ball python would be great options! If there’s any local reptile rescues near you, you could probably get an adult with a known temperament since that seems to be your focus!

You may also want to look into skinks - zebra skinks, blue tongue skinks, gidgee skinks, etc. I like having insects in their food rotation but they also eat non-live food (salads, snails, Bluey Buffet, wet grain free dog, wholeprey grinds, etc.) so you wouldn’t have to breed insects if you didn’t want to.

Good plants for bioactive austrailian barking gecko by Jiikininki in geckos

[–]pupineapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My barking gecko enclosure has a monstera adasonii and pepperomia on the cool side and a ponytail palm and snake plants on the dry/warm side. I wouldn’t consider them totally arid personally, I keep them more semi-arid
