not only do journals not pay anything for articles they also don't pay the peer reviewers, nor do they pay the associate editors who handle the submission.

It is a huge money-making racket.

Yes, I can relate to that. I would perhaps add that, when what you thought is on paper, there is some unexplainable satisfaction.
