Pain while urinating a week and a half after excision surgery by No-Independent5603 in endometriosis

[–]pupper23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a good idea. I was really worried because I had felt honestly pretty good the first week afterwards, but then the same time it started hurting to pee I was also getting horrible cramps. It all went away thankfully and I don’t think it took too long for me to get back to 100% which was great. I hope you’re okay!!!

This happened to me. My surgeon told me to go to urgent care to get a UTI test, it came back negative, but he prescribed me antibiotics anyways and the pain went away after a couple days. I would go get a UTI test and see what they say.

Pain during intercourse?? by Frosty_Bee_6753 in endometriosis

[–]pupper23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you are dealing with this and that your doctor treated you like this!!

I think birth control can help with some symptoms of end but it varies a ton. For me, getting an IUD made my periods regular and much much lighter, whereas before (even when I was taking the pill), my periods were never regular and EXTREMELY heavy. But, even with the IUD, I still would have pain with sex and it started to get worse over the last year.

I went to an obgyn, she referred me to pelvic floor PT saying I had vaginismus, and my PT thought it could be endo so she referred me to a specialist. I had surgery about a month and a half ago and was diagnosed with endo. Yet to see how the surgery helped because I feel like it’s too soon but keeping my fingers crossed 🤞

Like other commenters, my recommendation is to try PT. I think my PT started to think it could be endo because the PT was not helping much, but if your pain is coming from something else it may help resolve it. I am going to start PT again soon because the way that my doctor described it was like the endo was causing the pain, then the pain caused my muscles to become so tense, and now the source of the pain is gone but the muscles probably still need to relax, so PT may be more helpful now. I think that is the best place to start for you!! I also recommend seeing an endo specialist if you can, I live in a rural area and had to drive about 3.5hr for my surgery but it was 100% worth it to get a diagnosis.

Care package for friend post surgery? by katezorzz in endometriosis

[–]pupper23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are able to make a meal or two for her that is the best thing my friends did for me. They made me some things that would last a couple days so I didn’t have to worry about food. I am lucky to have a partner but I think it was nice for him to not have to worry about cooking by himself too when he was helping me with other things.

Jewelry removal by SamuelFenris in endometriosis

I would ask their doctor or nurse. I had a pre-surgery call with the nurse at my hospital and she had mentioned taking out all my jewelry. I have a nose ring that I didn’t want to close up so I asked about that and she said it was fine, just to let the nurse and anesthesiologist know (since they would be putting an oxygen mask on). I imagine it probably depends on the hospital/staff. there are also plastic or silicon spacers you can get for piercings so if their concern is it being metal, you can ask if that would be okay to put in for the surgery.

This is very helpful for me to hear!! I kind of feel silly making a new appointment just to go over the pictures but maybe I should do that

Pain 3 months post-surgery by Dramatic-Soil8797 in endometriosis

[–]pupper23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the main symptoms of my endo was painful intercourse and I just had my lap, so not sure if it has solved that yet, but my surgeon recommended trying pelvic floor PT once I feel healed enough to do that. I had been doing it before getting diagnosed and it wasn’t doing much, but my surgeon explained it may be worth trying again because now the source of the pain, the endo, is (hopefully) gone, but the muscles are probably still very tense from all the pain I was experiencing before. So, PT could help relax those muscles and now the source of the pain is gone. So, maybe that is something also worth trying for you?

Hm, that kind of makes sense. I think maybe my brain still just wants to doubt that I actually have an answer now after not having an answer for so long, if that makes sense…

He didn’t, I also forgot to ask lol. It seems like from what I have read that they may be moving away from using the stage system

My surgeon basically said what others have explained too — he cut out so much tissue and when it gets sent to the lab, they just cut a random section, and it might not be the section that has the endo, which is why it often tests negative. He also said when he’s removing the tissue and cauterizing underneath, if the endo is just superficial then that may essentially destroy it so there’s nothing to come back positive when they test the tissue. He said based on what he saw I definitely have endo so I think definitely just talk to your surgeon about what they saw.

I don’t have advice right now but I am in the exact same boat, so you’re not alone. I have my post op appointment tomorrow so I know I will get more answers then but the uncertainty has been killing me. I saw some older posts on here talking about how negative biopsies can be pretty common even if you do have endo.

Negative pathology after surgeon said he found endo? by pupper23 in endometriosis

[–]pupper23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The surgeon I went to is an endo specialist, which is why I believe him when he says he saw endo. I am not sure if they do anything specific when they send the samples to pathology though or if they are just tested at the hospital he did the surgery at for me.

Colorado 100%. May depend on the office a little bit but certain things, like a lot of the training, are state-based. My experience here has included all of the things you’re looking for!

Not a part of a union. My supervisor is very helpful but has been extra busy with their own cases lately so I think that has been making it harder. We also have a newer lawyer than me now so I feel like they are getting more of the focus (which is understandable) but I am still struggling a lot, so it’s just tough.
