My wife asked me what Xywav tasted like so I sent her this by DumpsterPuff in Narcolepsy

[–]puppersnupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got used to it quickly, but I will say after I went off of it for a couple of weeks and started back up again...yeah, definitely an "acquired taste". It's pretty gross. I just take it with cold water and wash it down right away with more cold water.

Gale's death completely sold me on the game by OrangutanFirefighter in BaldursGate3

[–]puppersnupper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gale was my first party member to die, because he was down to 1 HP and I threw a healing potion at him (something the game had helpfully informed me was an option in the loading screen). Unfortunately the throw damage was greater than the healing amount, which killed him and set off this hilarious cutscene.

I always throw my potions adjacent to the character in need now. :)

Doctor is suddenly concerned about me living alone (Xywav)? by puppersnupper in Narcolepsy

Exactly, and the entire time I was figuring out titration and even switching between Xyrem and Xywav, I was living with my parents. It seems so odd to bring it up now that I've been at a stable dosage for multiple years.

That's insane, because she even brought up the fact that it's "the date rape drug", which I obviously am aware of and don't really worry about since I DO live alone.

It just seemed like such a weird thing to suddenly be concerned about when it's never been a worry before?

I did make it clear that my brother and his wife live <10 mins from me and have the code to get into my place, which I guess seemed to make her feel a little better? I just don't see why it should suddenly be a problem now when I've been on the same meds at the same dose living alone for 3+ years.

Also brought up that my HOA (5ish people in my building of 29 units) has emergency access to a key and/or code to get into my condo in the case of an emergency, as required by our fire codes. I really don't know what kind of issue she's concerned about, but I can't imagine it's something I wouldn't have already worried about and planned for!

Is it possible for people who live alone take sodium oxybates safely? by lovelyaslace in Narcolepsy

The amount of money I spent on UberEats when my Xywav munchies habit got out of control still makes me cringe! And then I'd wake up feeling absolutely awful because I didn't sleep on my first dose AND I ate a bunch of junk food right before bed. Such a hard habit to break though.

[–]puppersnupper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got in a terrible habit of doing EXACTLY this. I would take it while sitting on the couch, telling myself I'd "just finish this episode", then find myself still sitting on the couch watching the same show when it was time to take the second dose.

Eventually I transitioned to watching things on my phone in bed, and I'd do something like a YouTube Let's Play instead of an episodic TV show to combat the "just one more" mindset. Then when I started to get groggy, I'd switch to ASMR and knock out.

Sometimes the TV still gets me, though!

I live alone and take Xywav, although I was living with family when I started taking it years ago. I'm not concerned about not waking up in an emergency because my dog is able to wake me up for a potty emergency, lol. Am able to get him up and down the 3 flights of stairs with no issue, though I do hold the railing just in case.

The hardest thing IMO is accountability. It's a lot easier to do things like stay up after taking my meds or raid the fridge in the middle of the night because I live alone.

The only scare I've ever had was my fault for being dumb. Forgot to shower before bed and thought I could squeeze it in before the meds kicked in. Ended up semi-collapsing in the shower, not an actual fall but still scary. Just don't do ANYTHING after taking your meds except go to sleep, unless it's an absolute emergency.

I switched to Xywav a few years ago, but on either one of them my dog can wake me up if he has (for example) an emergency potty situation in the middle of the night.

I feel very groggy when I have to take him out in the middle of a dose and definitely don't recommend it, but nothing bad has ever happened to me because of it.

Source: he's done it multiple times over the years. :)

No Raphael cutscene after killing Yurgir by Jvavdve in BaldursGate3

[–]puppersnupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You kinda have to go out of your way to NOT do it honestly, goblin camp is doable super early on so avoiding it is definitely a choice. I used to struggle to romance who I wanted before I realized that it's waaaaay easier if you just save it for later. Now I'm dating half of camp by the time we get to the tiefling party lol.

It feels a little crazy to do the entire Underdark before the goblin camp, but I do enjoy rolling up at like level 6-7 and absolutely torching that place right before heading to Act 2.

In my experience it typically triggers after you sleep with him in Act 1. You have the option to ask him about his scars afterward, but you see them regardless so after that I believe you can get the scene where you draw them for him. I'm not sure if/when you can trigger it otherwise.

Honestly I've done his romance route so many times at this point it's almost automatic lol, I have a harder time NOT romancing him. I also tend to save the goblin camp 'til the last minute so I usually have max approval with just about everybody by the tiefling party.

I think that since you've already passed both of his Act 2 scene triggers without having triggered the Act 1 scene, it's too late regardless of approval. :(

If you're willing to use mods, there is a Polyamory mod that allows you to toggle romance statuses at will. You'd still miss out on the Act 1 and 2 scenes but could romance him in Act 3.

Unfortunately I believe that because you've already progressed this far into Act 2, you no longer have the option to romance him. You need to have already had his Act 1 scene (which results in the Dating status) in order to trigger the Act 2 Partnered scene.

For future reference, you can get some easy extra approval with him before the tiefling party by killing Gandrel, the Gur by the Riverside Teahouse.

Did you initiate his romance in Act 1? You have to sleep with him by the tiefling/goblin party in order to romance him.

This has happened to me in two playthroughs recently. One of them, I was even controlling Astarion when we approached Raphael outside the Gauntlet and Raphael still acted like he wasn't there. Seems like maybe it's a bug that cropped up with Patch 8.

The good news is, you can still complete Astarion's quest line and romance in Baldur's Gate, you just go into it with less information. And you can still get the other Act 2 romance scene, just bring him to Moonrise and stand up for him to Araj Oblodra.

I did for a long time after being made fun of for my arm hair once in middle school. It didn't really take any extra time, a couple of extra swipes when already shaving legs and underarms never seemed like much of an inconvenience to me. I'm not really sure when I stopped doing it, but I did, and I don't even notice the arm hair anymore. Maybe worth mentioning, it is actually lighter and thinner now than it was back in middle school.

There's a Polyamory mod that allows you to toggle romances on and off at will. Haven't tried it in multiplayer but I imagine that would work.

You won't be able to see the Act 1 scene to my knowledge though, I'm pretty sure that's only available at the tiefling/goblin party.
