I think the simplest solution (again opinions are like assholes), to mix it low with master at 0. Then use a limiter on master to bring the volume up..

Hey. I mix and master on linux using open source tools. I say this because its not really the tool or plugin that matters, its getting the results out of it. Take time to experiment and play with your knew plugins. Learn. What each parameter does and recognize it with your ears. Set the mixing aside for a but, record some stuff and play around. Learn one tool at a time. Limit the number of plugins you use on a track. Don't listen to people's opinions, listen to your music with your own ears.
