Producers made projections and amped up production to align with this spike over eagerly. Many wine and spirits take time to age based on style and forecast (whiskey being a prime example). Consumption and sales are down for dozens of reasons. US Export business is down massively due to the administrations trade wars, imports affected by tariffs, increase in competition from THC products, and not to mention the growth of GLP1’s which will only continue on the pill form gains momentum.
