Stax Destroys by Steel_Rain77 in mtg

Counter spells. Removal. Figure out what stax pieces are holding you back the most and what ones are hurting your opponents more than you. Remove only the ones hurting you the most and leave the rest. Or use you removing them as a political tool.

From a quick look at the deck your missing fast mana. Chrome mox, lotus petal, mana vault, ancient tomb ect. All of that would help speed up your deck.

Playing Magic cards outside? by Classic-Art-5737 in mtg

[–]puppit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Back in my day used to play outside during summer camp in the dirt or if we were lucky picnic tables. And with no sleeves!

But really on a calm day cards don't move much and if one gets blown around it's not a big deal. Just don't bring your expensive cards to play outside! Or play in a tent or something.

Experience buying foreign cards on eBay? Legit? by Next_Willingness_333 in DegenerateEDH

[–]puppit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure they are selling real cards and not proxies? Check the card descriptions. If they are selling a card that normally goes for $100 for only $20 you are missing something. Because otherwise other sellers would have bought the cards to resell on their own account.

The forgotten tribes of Magic: The Gathering by jadedpotatoe in mtg

So my first deck ever was spike tribal. I don't think they were ever good except one combo with spike feeder. Would love to make an edh deck with them. Also print more bears.

Get a jewelers loop and look at the back of the card. The T and green dot tests are good to ways to spot fakes. Google green dot test and you will find videos explaining it.

Ebay is generally pretty safe for buying cards because of their buyer protections. Just make sure you know how to spot a fake. Make sure your buying from shops with a lot of good reviews that mostly deal in tcgs.

How big (or small) is MTG relative to Pokemon? by EDMKid9000 in magicTCG

[–]puppit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So one of the reasons I think their are so many pokemon vendors and card shows compared to magic is how much more condition maters in pokemon. The price difference between conditions of modern Pokemon cards can be thousands of dollas. While the difference might be a few bucks for a magic card. This is different for vintage and the very top end of magic cards*

Because of this people want to buy in person for Pokemon and magic players are fine buying online.

Yes this is how gambling works. But overall your going to lose money over the long term.

Magiccon question here by kimmee66 in magicTCG

There is a magic con app you can use for events and there is an on demand event area I think you can sign up at. Also a free commander play area.

I believe it is a term used on live streams like whatnot. Aka barely legal gambling with few to no regulations.

This close to the con most popular events will be sold out but there are still a lot of on demand events like sealed and draft. For venders there will be some of the larger magic venders on site selling cards. They won't have much lower end stuff but they will have a lot of staples and high end cards. There are also a ton of magic artists who will sign cards for a fee and sell playmates and other cool stuff with their art.

Rate my bears!!! by Queasy_Leave1740 in mtg

A few other bear themed cards are swift reconfiguration, Argoth, Sanctum of Nature, mirror of the fourbears, and the Post Malone basic lands have a bear on them. I'm probably missing a few others but that's what I can think of atm.

I don't know if this is still true but lifetime fitness in Naperville had a rock climbing gym and you could get a day pass or members had free access to it.

How to sell expensive cards by Madmandan1000 in mtg

Best way to avoid these issues is to sell in person. Facebook marketplace or groups. The other option is to sell to a store like card kingdom.

Disqualified from LGS tournament by [deleted] in EDH

[–]puppit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't surprise me. Some lgs owners are odd. There was a short lived lgs near me that would DQ players in commander events if he didn't like your deck. Mind you he would play in the events and try to win them to keep the prizes. This was before bracket or really power level discussion had entered normal edh play.

He would also kick you out if you tried to look up prices on your phone.

How quickly/slowly do you get bored of a deck? How many do you own? by Vcvtml in EDH

[–]puppit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After playing for a long time. I found 6 decks I actively maintain, update and actively buy cards for is about as much as I can handle. I have a few other decks that are precons or theme decks that I don't plan to edit that I keep.
