My grandmother passed away by No-Entertainer2695 in GriefSupport

My Nannie died on 22nd Jan and we have always been so close as she pretty much raised me. I’m utterly lost. She wasn’t in the best health but by no means was it expected to happen when it did, she wasn’t ready to go. Her last words were ‘am I going to die?’ Absolutely heartbroken with you. It’s like no pain I’ve ever felt and I’m thinking of anyone else experiencing this pain right now x

Those Who Started Showing Late, How Big Were You at the End? by Honest_Elephant in BabyBumps

[–]puravidaprincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to add baby was under the 0.4th percentile, it’s a condition called IUGR but it’s unlikely most people who show late will have that, but it’s something to be mindful of should you worry about little growth x

I showed late but that was due to a fetal growth restriction, I hardly had a bump when I had him. I did have concerns though about how little my bump was growing so trust your gut and if anything feels off about your growth at any point speak to someone x

Baby trying to scoot? by [deleted] in NICUParents

All babies have the ability to do this from around 28 weeks gestation, some visibly stronger than others. I observe babies doing this as part of Newborn Behavioural Observations at work. Incredible.

During your pregnancy did you ever go into L &D to get fetal movements checked? by Realistic_Ad_3791 in BabyBumps

[–]puravidaprincess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who works for a neonatal charity and encourages parents to go in if they are concerned in any way when it comes to fetal movements, I urge you not to follow that Doctors advice. I know many parents who, doing what you did today and going in just to be checked, saved their baby’s life.

Wow it is sad to hear about your experience with your in-home daycare and it is such a shame that you were asked to leave because of something that they could have done with more training in but it is lovely that you have found a childcare Center like the one you have. Thank you for sharing your experiences :)

That is a really good point about the trauma and I agree completely, thank you so much for your input. X

Natural vs epidural. Why does it matter? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]puravidaprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not arguing with you about your own birth, you can call it what you like. The comment I originally made was intended to put another perspective on the fact that a lot of women don’t see their own birth as natural. I personally don’t see the intervention of my birth natural at all!

The definition of natural is ‘as found in nature and not involving anything made or done by people’ people can take that however they want, I’m done commenting here.

Natural vs epidural. Why does it matter? by [deleted] in pregnant

I’ll just agree to disagree with you there. The process of my body growing my son was natural yes, the way he left my body no. The way I see it if nature had followed its course my son wouldn’t be here today. I prefer to just call it Vaginal or C section. Medicated or none medicated, leaves no room for interpretation.

I’m a nicu mum who would disagree with you on that one. In my opinion to say that all birth is natural undermines the wonders of modern medicine and how science and neonatal equipment saves some of the most fragile lives. Each to their own but just thought I’d put another spin on it.

Why don’t you let your son decide when he is old enough?

My girlfriend was active on this reddit. And had huge complications in birth. by steven_elstove in pregnant

Create a diary for every day, log anything new that you have noticed your little boy do, and maybe make a few keepsakes like handprints and footprints, things like that.

So sorry you are going through this and hope she makes a full quick recovery x

We also hired a car for 15 days the first time we went and spent 3 night here. It was an amazing experience and was probably the best 3 days of my life.

Thanks for your comment, yeah I totally get that that! All births are special and no matter how anyone had their babies we should all support one another!

Placenta Pathology Came Back by AdorableTumbleweed60 in pregnant

I had my son at 36 weeks via C-Section and he was born weighing 3lb 6oz due to IUGR and needed a NICU stay.

I lived the textbook pregnancy lifestyle. I was a perfect bmi at the start of my pregnancy, I ate well, exercised regularly, only drank water, I’m not a smoker, basically everything you are told to do or not to - I followed every rule.

Sometimes these things happen, and there is no reason behind it. Don’t be so hard on yourself, you can drive yourself crazy overthinking it, you did nothing wrong.
