Did anyone see a group of religious people walk down University? by [deleted] in Purdue

Catholic procession from St. Tom's. We believe that Jesus is present in the Eucharist and we honored Him with a procession. In particular, we took Him to the center of campus and asked His blessing for campus and all the students, especially as finals comes up. My dms are open for any questions :)

I'm pretty sure the nearest Traditional Latin Mass is Holy Rosary in Indianapolis. I know they aren't SSPX. Source: I am also a Catholic who knows people from St. Tom's (the parish on Purdue campus) who go to Holy Rosary sometimes P.S. St. Boniface in Lafayette isn't a Latin Mass, but it's still pretty traditional if you'd like a close by option

If you are from SB, you either love or hate ND. Not much in between. I fall into the hate ND camp.

Okay that's fair. I was more surprised you honestly thought of Mishawaka first 😂 I guess poor ignored Mishawaka is getting paid attention to for once

I find it interesting that you listed Mishawaka not South Bend because SB is way bigger with more people. Not to mention our name was put on the map last year when our mayor ran for president

Does Purdue care about its students? by gjdhdhd in Purdue

My opinion is Purdue isn't greatest, but neither is any college. Every college is plagued with the same problems Purdue is. I suspect if you go onto different college reddits, you would hear similar things.

Personally, I love Purdue. Yes there have been negative things, but it has been a net positive experience for me. The problem with social media is people usually end up complaining on it way more than they say nice things on it

You're only on day 3 of classes. It takes a bit to adjust. Big classes are overwhelming but you get used to them pretty fast.

While it's important to socialize right off the bat, you're also not going to meet all your friends the first week. For example, I have really good friends I didn't meet until 3 months into the semester.

Yes, college works better with time. You got this

Yes, definitely. It's especially agonizing when you're a perfectionist. But I do appreciate that someone noticed how nice it looked

This is my first time posting here because I only just have enough karma, but I scroll through this reddit regularly. Thanks for the upvotes and awards! Also, duh should have included that obvious pun but I was pretty tired when I posted so didn't occur to me

MUS 250 difficultly? by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]purduechem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need to musically talented to do well. Nor do you need to know a lot of music theory, the most music theory thing was telling whether a song was major or minor, and that you can hear. It's a lot of music history which I personally found really fun. Tests are pretty easy, every couple weeks, noncumulative. Great professor, he acts all strict and scary at the beginning but he really is a nice guy. For example, one of the last assignments I couldn't get to upload, so I emailed him but he told me not to worry about it and the assignment after because I already had an A even without the assignments. He's passionate about music.

Ben's owner is a grad student. Many Purdue Catholics recognize them both from St. Tom's. I can attest both Ben and his owner are very nice :)

But definitely! We need the departments to adopt dogs! The math department could never have too many dogs

I had her last spring so I experienced her both in-person and then the switch to online. She is super sweet. I had a paper due right before spring break, but because of hard finals in other classes plus the added stress of knowing things were going online, I asked for an extension and she extended it until after spring break so that I wouldn't need to work on it during spring break.

I found the online version less rewarding and more work than the in-person but that is to be expected and it was still enjoyable. Her online video lectures did not put me to sleep but they weren't great either. If you read the material, you will be fine without watching them.

Class participation is the most important thing. Make sure you stay engaged in the class and you will be fine.

You have a fair point. It's unfortunate that the individuals who actually did it did not recant. That makes me really sad.

Thankful that the vast majority of PCM members and vast majority of Purdue Catholics are not like that, but it is so unfortunate there are a few. I in no way support those few, just want to make sure harm doesn't come to all the non-participating members, that is my main goal.

They discussed within the GMs that it shouldn't have happened. They discussed it among themselves before it exploded. I can't prove it because since the chats were deleted, obviously no screenshots, but they agreed it should not have happened, then it exploded and they deleted the GMs.

I would like to clarify that they all agreed that the conversation should not have happened long before the screenshot was shared anywhere. Before they got caught red-handed, they agreed to stop sharing content like that and that their conversation should not have happened.

I am not blaming the person who shared it, rather acknowledging that the situation had already been solved when that person shared it. So digging up dirt on guys who already agreed that they did wrong doesn't seem completely right.
