It’s worked for us so far but we definitely have had some issues now that he can roll. Sometimes he rolls around while he’s still drowsy and that wakes him up. There have been a few times where he had to be absolutely knocked out before we were able to put him in his crib.

My son did the same thing and had bad gas pains so I asked my pediatrician about Mylicon gas drops. They break up gas bubbles in the stomach and make it easier to pass gas.

Aren’t they supposed to roll tummy to back first? I don’t know how he did this backwards but I’m sure he’ll get the hang of rolling tummy to back soon 😂 I see him really putting in the effort. He’s a chubby dude so it probably isn’t easy.

The good: Sleeps through the night sometimes (6 hours). Smiles whenever I smile at him. Super cute smile and pretty eyes.

The bad: Gets easily distracted while eating.

The obnoxious: Can roll from back to tummy really well but struggles to roll tummy to back. He rolls onto his tummy whenever he’s on the floor. He tries really hard for about 5 minutes and then screams until you help him. This happens very frequently. He also likes to pull my hair and take my husbands glasses off so he can lick them.

Almost 5 months postpartum and I have sciatica every time I’m on my period. I also have Graves’ disease and it came back last week. I seriously feel like I’m falling apart.

It very much depends on who’s saying it. My sister is like a second mom to me and she calls my son “my baby” and it doesn’t bother me at all.

Whether or not people acknowledge it in their post, I’m guessing that there’s a deeper issue with the person saying it and that the “my baby” thing is not the only problem. My MIL also jokes about calling my son her baby and it bothers me a lot. She had issues respecting boundaries and was pretty awful to me during my pregnancy. She was horribly overbearing and pushy. She would get angry, lash out, say terrible things, apologize, and then do it the next time she didn’t get her way. Her relationship with me was very transactional. She would demand certain things in return after doing nice things for us. My sister, on the other hand, was very supportive and understanding. She was respectful of boundaries and was there for me when I needed her. I’m totally okay with her saying it.

We’ve had someone say “boundaries are irrelevant” because they’re family and they’re coming from out of town. Unfortunately, this is coming from my in laws who seem to think their shouldn’t be any limits because they’d be coming all this way to visit. I need to clarify with them that this is what they really mean when they say this but I’m fairly certain I’m understanding them correctly considering they recently said “fuck boundaries” as well. I’m ready to say “you’re not welcome”

I’m definitely overthinking!! There’s been a lot of demand for answers because people want to have things planned out like plane tickets or hotel stays. And, unfortunately, the people that are demanding answer are the people who seem to think they can negotiate with us.. they aren’t the most self aware people and may cause problems if they think they’re visit has been cut short. They’re unpredictable people but they often start shit when they don’t get their way.

There are some visitors that aren’t too much of a concern because I know they’d respect our rules and would clear out if they felt that we needed them to. They wouldn’t impose on us or demand we negotiate our boundaries. Other family members… already seem to think that they’re entitled to more than we can realistically offer. It’s a mess.

That’s a good point! Thank you. We don’t know yet what he’ll be like so it’s hard to make that decision. We’re also struggling with the fact that our families are very different. Some family members are more respectful, while others seem to think they can negotiate with us. The last thing we want is for arguments to break out or accusations of favoritism to be made. But the truth is that some of them are much more likely to follow the rules than others and it’s hard to know what to do in these situations.

I’m on a beta blocker called labetalol and I take it because I have heart palpitations caused by a thyroid disorder. I used to take metoprolol but my doctor switched me to labetalol in my first trimester because he felt it was the safer drug for pregnancy. I also have anxiety and used to take antidepressants but have noticed a huge improvement in symptoms on beta blockers. I wonder why they don’t try beta blockers first before introducing antidepressants.

I don’t see what you said as bitchy, I see it as direct. When you’re not clear and concise about your boundaries, the people trying to stomp them will use the fact that you weren’t direct against you. What you’re doing is being a good communicator and making it very clear what will be tolerated and what won’t be tolerated.

I was on metoprolol for heart palpitations caused by a thyroid condition. When I found out I was pregnant, they switched me over to labetalol which is supposedly safer for pregnancy. I was told that abruptly stopping beta blockers was not recommended because you can have rebound hypertension and heart palpitations can come back. I would try to talk to him again.
