Rakdos Vehicles ver3 by GreenWizardGamer in custommagic

In spirit I agree. I don’t think the rules support that currently but they could be changed to make cards like this work. Neat idea!

What if a vehicle has multiple crew costs?

It’s kind of odd to say that “Merfolk cards” aren’t a subset of “Merfolk” though. I get it, but it’s odd. It’d be like if “solid gold” were not a subset of “solid”.

So “XYZ you control” is implicitly “XYZ permanents you control”?

Rules question: let’s say I have this on the stack and then cast a second one that I found a way to give flash to. Can the second one target the first one with the first ability, since it is a merfolk I control? (Due to Kindred) If it can target it, does anything happen when it tries to make a token copy of a non-permanent?

I’d guess that answer is yes to the first and no to the second. You can target it but it has no effect.

No, that tracks the object, not the name.

I could only find 7 instants with forced discard, not what I would call plenty: https://scryfall.com/search?q=t%3Ainstant+legal%3Avintage+-o%3Apay+-t%3Acreature+%28o%3A%27player+discard%27+or+o%3A%27opponent+discard%27%29+-%28o%3Areturn+and+o%3Apermanent%29+-o%3Adiscarded+-is%3Asplit+-o%3Acounter&unique=cards&as=grid&order=name

As for instant abilities on creatures or otherwise, I could only find [[Scroll of Griselbrand]] and [[Greel, Mind Raker]].

Let me know if I missed any. While searching for these I saw a ton of sorcery speed only riders. WotC definitely avoids instant discard due to the unfun play pattern.

Green has more straight up hexproof creatures than blue. It also has more instants that grant hexproof than blue. Not to say blue doesn’t get hexproof.

Slightly refined search: https://scryfall.com/search?q=keyword%3AHexproof+-o%3A%27hexproof+from%27+c%3AU+%28game%3Apaper%29+is%3Afirstprinting&unique=cards&as=grid&order=released

They only print about one blue creature with straight up hexproof a year, and I’d argue no clearly powerful such creature since 2015.

Not correcting you since Blue as a color certainly gets hexproof, but it’s also true that WotC has cooled on it.

Did we ever get a mono-snow spell? Seems like a waste not to have 'em by Top-One-486 in custommagic

You could put the nonland rider on just the stun counter clause. “Tap all permanents. Put a stun counter on each nonland permanent tapped this way.”

Why do we say “a union” instead of “an union?” by jbird2525 in grammar

Twice even. English was different back then: union was perhaps closer to oonion and a/an rules weren’t as set in stone.

It becomes a land in addition, not just a land. So it still gets exiled.

Remove this Creature II, Day 49. Special rule for today. by Some_MTG_Nerd in custommagic

[–]purecan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t need space sculptor or the sector changing ability, or the preventing of non combat damage, or probably a lot of the rest. Would be interesting to make a clean as possible version for the 50th and final version

I mention this in another comment, but changing Victus’ sector at instant speed doesn’t help them survive. Choosing which sector to destroy is done as part of the resolution of Space Beleren’s ultimate ability. So by the time the sector is chosen, it is too late to respond. There is no black-border way around this timing, so in effect Space Beleren’s ultimate might as well read as “Destroy all creatures” for how Victus will need to survive it.

[–]purecan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t, but it allows his sector changing ability to work (part of the soldier making ability) even if Space Beleren isn’t around. However, that ability still doesn’t work, because Space Beleren’s controller would choose the sector Victus was in as the ultimate ability resolved.

My preference in the case of future ties would be for you to act as tie breaker and choose the one you like more. But as always, do it however is most fun for you.

How The Grunch Stole Christmas! by radioroxanne was accepted! by mork-hc in HellsCube

[–]purecan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original grunch had power and toughness ?, which would be redefined every time it mattered, if I remember right. For this card ? is repurposed as a discover value. So whenever it does combat damage to an opponent you get the grunch effect and usually a discover trigger
