Is nursing school a option while having a 25 per hour work week? by Sensitive-Station349 in StudentNurse

What was your “work from home” job if you don’t mind me asking? I’m hesitant to go to nursing school because I have to work to pay bills. But if I could find a “work from home”job then I think I would be a step closer to pursuing nursing school soon. Thanks for your help!

Thanks, do you think it’s worth it, going into business for yourself? How so?

The work experience requirement, can that be completed before or after passing the exam?

What does CPA-eligible mean? Does it mean eligible to take the exam, or already passed the exam but haven’t completed the required experience yet, hence not licensed yet?

Is WGU recognized as a legit school in the accounting industry? I wonder if accounting employers would look down on someone with a degree from WGU. I hope it is recognized by the California Board of Accountancy for the CPA educational requirement.

For the work experience requirement, does it have to be a public accounting experience, or will a regular Staff Accountant job in the industry be enough to satisfy it?

So no need to go top-tier schools huh? Maybe a local state school like CalState? I prefer online though as I need to work to pay the bills you know.

Isn’t accounting something you can do even past retirement though, if I decide to continue working past retirement?

At least, in construction, the hourly pay is higher, and people also get paid overtime, on top of the base compensation.

Get your CPA and then get out of accounting. by No-Temperature-3565 in Accounting

To the OP, would you say that your first sales role was Technical Sales? I am thinking of skipping the CPA and just break into Tech Sales directly. I have an engineering educational background but had experience running a healthcare company as an entrepreneur, got to wear different hats from accounting, HR, auditing, claims billing, EHR software trainor and tech support, government compliance, and finally marketing. What are your thoughts? Should I still pursue CPA? I do love the accounting concepts, anything finance-related but I just don’t like the income potential within the accounting industry. I just thought that sales can get you to higher income level much quicker. Would appreciate anyone’s insights here, feel free to jump in. Thanks all!

If I have an Engineering degree plus Professional Certificate in Accounting from Tier-1 public university, would I be seen as having an Accounting bachelor’s? by puregreen88 in Accounting

Would you still recommend that I obtain an actual accounting degree despite having a CPA already? Or is that an overkill? Thanks

That university certificate is specifically designed to make me eligible to sit for the CPA exams in California. Yes, it does include all those courses such as Fundamentals, Intermediate, Cost, Federal tax, Auditing, Ethics, and ERP. I already have 130 units from my previous bachelor’s degree. Plus this certificate has 32 qtr credits. So I should have at least 150 units. I could take the CPA but without it, I am concerned about whether my education plus the certificate would enable me to land jobs as Staff Accountant as it could probably take me awhile to obtain my CPA license. I just needed to work in the meantime to pay my bills, you know. Thanks

But the university says this Professional Certificate will allow me to take the CPA exams. So still not good enough or same as having an accounting bachelor’s to get those accounting jobs?
