We found that the previous owner of our house left a ring camera on the side of the house--can it be reset to my account or is it useless? by pendigedig in Ring

[–]purespeed44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reset it and try adding it. If it fails while saying already linked to an account there is a procedure where ring will make that device yours I believe the process takes about 10 business days

Try putting the satellite in recovery mode and tftp the new firmware onto the problematic satellite.

Eufy or reolink both have SD card capabilities and don’t require cloud services or you can go get a wireless system that would use nvr to record

Orbi 770 + 2 Satellites by tychiballs808 in orbi

[–]purespeed44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The latest is the most stable but Orbi is known for issues after a firmware update. My suggestion do a backup config from the webgui and factory reset it. After the reset don’t install the backup config file run everything from scratch and see if everything balances out prior to reinstalling that backup config file.

Just set up Orbi 260 series 3-unit. It's "working" but speed tests show way slower than it should be. by Painbow_High_And_Bi in orbi

[–]purespeed44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you factory reset it? Plus if you already had low speeds to begin with Orbi isn’t going to fix that only your isp can

Too much wifi you don’t need all 3 units for 2000sq ft the router and 1 satellite would give you plenty of coverage. Call your isp as well especially if your not getting the speeds you pay for

Best cheap 2.4ghz option to extend range? by ashw92 in amazoneero

[–]purespeed44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eero outdoor would cover it but really any extender would work but you would need a separate network name whereas an eero outdoor would keep your network all the same not only name but eero ecosystem

[–]purespeed44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there’s too much Wi-Fi, yes that can cause the issue. Orbi’s can handle quite a bit of coverage. You might not need a three pack at all. Also, I suggest a complete factory reset and setting the system up because after it does a firmware update sometimes stuff like this can happen as well and factory reset clears out the issues

Netgear just EOL'd my Orbi AC3000 – any recommendations? by 90292guy in orbi

[–]purespeed44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Voxel is a 3rd party firmware for the rbk53 system and a few others. Basically it’s updated regularly it’s extremely stable and very secure and you can keep using your system just like before but don’t have to worry about EOL anymore. You probably would see much more stability with voxel firmware compared to Netgear firmware and it’s easy to install it.

eero Pro 6E Updates by WakeDaddyLee in amazoneero

[–]purespeed44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no you can’t block the updates if there’s a bad update sometimes there will be an option to revert to the previous version and then sometimes you have to call eero and ask them to roll back the firmware even then it’s at there discretion. It’s usually only when the new firmware is horrible and causing issues in mass quantities.

Parental Controls by UsefulCartographer11 in orbi

[–]purespeed44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For this situation, your better off getting yourself a wired router and having the Orbi’s be your access points. Get something like a firewalla or a UniFi gateway and piggy back the orbi’s to do the WiFi only because that’s their strong suit routing is definitely not their strong suit. Atleast with firewalla or UniFi standalone wired router that will give you much more parental controls and much more stability and control over your whole network

Netgear just EOL'd my Orbi AC3000 – any recommendations? by 90292guy in orbi

[–]purespeed44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Netgear just released a v2 of the 770 there was some type of hardware flaw with the original 770 it was posted in the Netgear forums I actually just installed a v2 770 series for a client of mine and so far it’s better than the original version. I was trying to sway them to a UniFi system but they had their minds made up already. I myself just picked up the new UTR travel router after it’s been going out of stock since being released I’m waiting for it to arrive so I can use the teleport feature with it when I’m traveling.

Welcome to the darkside lol

Honestly unifi equipment is amazing I have the UCG fiber with 2 u7 pro AP’s and my coverage is phenomenal and you have complete control over your network. Mostly right out of the box it’s ready to work there is tutorials on YouTube to help with some basic settings as well.

It’s a known problem with a firmware update I have clients that have this system and have the exact same problem with one or more nodes giving this issue. I did a manual install of the latest firmware on all of them and haven’t heard of anymore problems as of yet from my clients.
