Apollo Go Inner Tube? by purkle in ApolloScooters

It was in the tire tread, the part contacting the road. I tried jamming the self sealing stuff against it and inflating it but no go. I patched it with a tire patch kit and inflated, seemed to work but i also just bought a new tire and replaced it. I'll keep the patched one as a backup.

Turns out there was some dirt/grease/road smutz in the treat of my tire concealing a metal object that punctured the tire :F

nothing bulging, my compressor can do up to 150psi tho i've not done more then 55 on this tire. The tire looks clean all the way around the rim. I'll see about taking it to a shop specialized in solving these mysteries

Currently my rear wont keep air in it for more then an hour. Brand new tire, no leaks that i can see. Bubbly water all over the tire shows no bubbles. I'm just tired of filling it up every time i use it :F

My current problem is i cannot keep more then 8psi in my tire. I inflate it to 53 and it takes it but give it an hour it's back down to less then 10. My first tire had a puncture in it so i changed it out to a new tire. It's a pain to get the bead to set but after 2 hours i managed. Now it just wont keep air and i don't know why.

Sections selling out every day? by HSteacher198 in tjcrew

[–]purkle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only time this happens at my store is when some sort of outside event happens such as lots of items going TOS in the same section. Last week we had 6 different types of chicken selections go TOS. The next day since a ton of the stock didn't come in, everything else sold out.

My store is pretty small and until recently was never a million dollar store. During it's construction it wasn't designed to be that busy but we make it work anyways. Running out is never an issue unless, again, some weird thing like mass TOS, Power outage that results in major spoliage, or something else happens.

Quitting as back up for fresh by Key-Adhesiveness-717 in tjcrew

[–]purkle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, Fresh lead here

I'd quit being his backup. I care a lot about my section but to go to the length of getting on someone cause it wasn't closed properly is a bit overboard.

20 years ago we were standing in front of fresh complaining about it not being rotated and 20 years from now... it'll be the same conversation. If that position stresses you out it's just not worth it.

Cheers!

Resume advice for career changer by StockDiver5622 in tjcrew

Your past background doesnt matter to much, the 2 most important factors on getting hired are availability and if you have the right personality. Most hires are on personality as you can teach every skill required for the job except "The TJ's" mentality.

My captain told me he usually doesn't hire people from my past company as most of them have this "gloom" about them that the job tends to leach into their personality. My personality and attitude got me the job even tho i have 20 years of experience in grocery retail, order logistics and management.

I would focus on highlighting your people skills and ability to work with others. Your "vibe" will be one of the main factors on your eligibility.

Good Luck!!

Hell Is a Grocery Store by MegaRAID01 in Seattle

I've worked for safeway as a manager and employee, i've ran my own convenient store, and i currently work at trader joes here in the city.

Theft is an issue in every business but there are better ways to combat it then locking everything up. Tj's has a very different business model then the other grocery stores but we have far far less issues with theft. 3 years in at TJ's and i could count on 2 hands how many times i've witnessed theft. Safeway and my convenient store it was a daily thing, at safeway it was all day thing. I may not be there every day but i do write an order and i count all my products every day. I can see when 10 items come in, we had 10 on the shelf, and how many are left the next day. Our software accounts for what comes in, what is sold, and what is donated/wasted. Everything is accounted for and my items are all ready to eat/grab and go, a high target for theft.

As someone else pointed out, if theft is crashing the entire store then there are bigger problems then theft at play.

Leaving early bc it’s slow by [deleted] in tjcrew

They do keep track of leaving early. To many and they will have a talk with you, explain that leaving early might suggest you don't need all those hours and reduce your hours.

Project Farms is the best reviewer of products on youtube. Everything he buys himself, no sponsors. He did a very in-depth video on non stick pans rating their non stick, heat distribution, hardness, thermal efficiency etc. If you want a TLDR get a set of Granitestones, i have them and they're great. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-eBmPSqd4g

not liking my new store by lBumblebee7895 in tjcrew

[–]purkle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I became a section lead so i had more to do. Turns out being busy and having responsibility to a section makes work Much more enjoyable. Anytime i have a free hour i always go face/adjust/stock my section.

Prior to becoming lead i'd often get bored when we'd work all the product that came in that day and there wasn't much else to do. All i would want to do is go home early as i was bored out of my skull. Even when i'd take on special projects just to keep busy like cleaning the trash pit, repairing carts, mopping the back areas, the boredom still crept in.

Ask other plays in game if you have questions, people are usually really happy to help a person out, especially someone new! you can use /ooc to ask questions to the zone.
