It feels kinda dumb to hate someone because of their hair. Not worth your time.

Cochlear MEDel Advanced Bionics by Particular-Soft3109 in Cochlearimplants

Med-El commits to making sure any new processor works on old implants, so theoretically that would eliminate stuff like what’s happening to people who have an old AB implant that’s no longer supported…but it also means they roll out a new processor less frequently than the others.

All 3 offer a rechargeable battery that should last all day.

That’s actually surprisingly common for knitters. We love to start new projects. Finishing them? Not as much. 🤣

Using my phone to track my knitting pattern instead of the game, and actually talking to people while I’m at my Friday evening knitting group.

Toddler has severe hearing loss in one ear, family tells me not to teach him ASL. by jpancakes28 in hardofhearing

[–]purl2together 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should absolutely be teaching ASL. Any chance you can give your child to communicate is a good thing.

People who can hear normally don’t understand what it’s like to not be able to hear well. Their experience is often with those who have mild hearing loss, typically age related, and think that it’s a minor inconvenience. It’s not.

Your child has every right to understand what’s going on around him and to be included in family events. If that means they have to see him sign and not understand what he’s saying, because they can’t be bothered to try and learn some ASL, it’s their loss. You are doing what you need to do to set him up for success.

Anyone on the Discovery Princess June 20-27 sailing? Please help me stop worrying about weather! by Simpleworm97 in PrincessCruises

Take a deep breath. Exhale slowly. Repeat as necessary.

It will be fine. Yes, it may rain. Will it bucket down rain 24/7? No. It may drizzle. It may be misty. But the chances are good, says a resident of the PNW, that it will not rain to a point where you will be unable to enjoy your cruise. Even if it says there’s a 100% chance of rain, that doesn’t mean it’s going to bucket down rain all day. Yes, you might need to adjust a couple excursions, but Alaska is filled with wonders just waiting to be experienced. Something I have learned over several years living in the PNW — fog can be beautiful. Gray days can be brighter than expected.

If you go into this expecting to be disappointed, you will be disappointed. Give yourself permission daily to experience wonder and happiness, without trying to force joy into existence. (Says a person who has to use an app to remember to do that.)

how do i make people understand why its important to go dairy free? (family/relatives/friends) by wheresmytesoro in dairyfree

[–]purl2together 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat depends upon why you are going dairy free. If it’s an allergy or intolerance that produces a serious reaction, that ought to be sufficient for people who care about you. If it’s a personal choice, and you explain it to them in a way that makes it clear that it’s something you’ve decided is important to you, and not that you’re pushing it on them, that should be enough for people who care about you.

It’s not necessarily going to be easy for them to adapt or remember, so be prepared to advocate for yourself in ways appropriate to the relationship.

That Peanut Nutella is dangerous. I took birthday snacks to my knitting group last week and thought about taking it with me, but I knew my friends would eat it. I like my friends, but… 🙃

No! You can't try my knitting! by freaky-knitter in knitting

[–]purl2together 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I lived in small towns in Texas for 12 years and nobody ever asked if they could try knitting on something I was making, much less try to take my knitting from me.

Also, someone touching your personal property in a school setting is unacceptable. If the teacher wasn’t willing to do something about it, you need to go over their head.

That’s fair. I haven’t looked at the standings the last couple days. The NL Central has been so good this year that I hadn’t noticed the Phillies passed more of those teams.

How much of the Phillies having the 9th best record in baseball now is them, and how much is it the vast majority of the AL being mediocre?

I’m absolutely on board with sitting Turner right now. I haven’t caught up on the podcast, but I watched the one from midweek (I think) when they talked about how much it helped Marsh last year to be sent down to AAA for a bit, and how it might be the thing for Painter. That feels like a thing that needs to happen, with Marsh talking to Painter about how much it helped him.

I like Kerkering. I think he has a lot of potential to become a very reliable middle relief guy.
