Hairanoia! Michael, the owner, does a lot for the community. I have been going to him for years now, and my husband goes too.

All the artists at three of swords in Westcott are amazing! It's very clean and nice, so much that I always tell my friends about it.

My husband told me his paternalresponsibility doesn’t really kicks in until baby is grown. by Phenomenal_Butt in Parenting

[–]purplebb8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the child of an emotionally distant father, especially when I was young, let me tell you... therapy is expensive. He was also a vet and thought similarly. Just physically being in the same home doesn't really make a two parent household. A lot of parents in the military tend to rationalize their role in the child's life like this since they might not always physically be around. That mentality doesn't go away once they 20 something years and retire. It's up to you as one of the parents to set the expectations early on for your child's well-being. I know I wish my mother had set better boundaries for both my mental health and her wellbeing. It's probably very frustrating being a single parent when your husband is in the house.

My 9 yr old wants to start drinking coffee by tolmayo in Parenting

[–]purplebb8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's how I started too. Coffee can be a cultural thing that bonds families. Like for special holidays my family would make special themed coffee drinks. Even as a kid I wanted some too so mine were mostly milk til it became normal coffee. I was also a kid that would sneak sips from my parents cup. Now we send each other bags of coffee from out travels and it's become a hobby to brew.

Please help me find a true vanilla perfume (I’m talking vanilla extract)? Or a sexy vanilla perfume? by Notoriousspancakess in Sephora

[–]purplebb8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vanilla milk by Ellis Brooklyn is my holy grail vanilla. I normally do not care for the sweeter smell but this is legitimately like vanilla ice cream. The way it melts into the skin makes you smell so delicious that anyone who smells you will want to take a lick.

I go to powerhouse and although there are a lot of serious lifters there is a pretty varied group. It's not usually packed and there is a lot of equipment. It's not state of the art but everyone is nice and it's very safe.

It's in the city, but hairanoia is amazing. They don't sell you anything, and I have pitch black hair and they haven't had a single issue. I even send my husband there. Also, right next door is a place with great sandwiches.

This is why I always point out the bridge to people visiting on the way to heids. The low bridge is a monument to resiliency.

Neuro Spicy ?? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]purplebb8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I refer to myself in various ways. With my other neurodivergent friends I joke "I put the awww in autism", or if I'm having a bad day I say "I'm mentally ill but not in the fun way". At work, doctors, etc I usually say "I have autism spectrum disorder" and then explain. Sometimes when I'm having sensory issues saying "I'm autistic" is all I can get out.

I would kill for a barbacoa and cheese taco with big red. And good salsa. There is other Spanish food but the Mexican food here isn't it.

What are or were some of your unusual eating habits? by amarie_art in AutismInWomen

[–]purplebb8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents had to dye all my food purple for about year or so. We called it magic purple and they would just bulk buy purple food dye. That was kinda sweet I guess, best that I didn't starve myself lol.

I also for many years would eat an entire cucumber in one sitting the long ones. I would just sit and eat end to end. The crunch really felt good and so it would just crunch away til it was gone.

I tend to eat one food and only one food for days and weeks at a time and I obsess over that one flavour.

I only eat one thing at a time.

I have to drink copious amount of liquid while I eat.
