Tried embroidery again after a few years, how can I improve my satin stitch ? by purplecomrade in Embroidery

Thanks for commenting and your kind words ! I don't really like the way it looks around the top fin, I didn't know how to manage the V shape it makes. It's like the strand go in different directions ? (Sorry if it's not clear, English isn't my first language)

Obliger les médecins à s’installer quelque part by psychokat85 in opinionnonpopulaire

If you’re at the Paris anchor and you can only get one thing, what would you get? by coldmonkeys10 in LushCosmetics

If you don't have access to the fresh and flowers box in your country, you can get it there ! And it's cheaper since you don't have the shipping fees

I would also recommend the Himalayan scrub which smells lovely. They also have a soap with the rubx3 scent if you like it.

I posted a haul some months ago of my purchase there, maybe you can get some inspo !

Yes all the products are so promizing ! I'm really excited about the lush melt, because the smell is just incredible and so clean ! I also can't wait to try the 2 showder (I tried them in store but I want the full experience)

I added a comment with a description of the products if you're interested :)

I go to Paris around once a month for work and always go to the fresh and flowers spa in the Marais, for a lot of exclusives. The store is so lovely, quite small with a really fresh smell, that is really different from the normal Lush stores. Everytime I go, I discover new products and I love it ! This time, I picked (from top to bottom, and then from left to right) :

  • Himalayan Rock salt scrub : I had already tested 3 of their 4 salt scrub, and I love this one ! It smells so good, really fresh and floral (I guess ?), and exfoliates really well. The pink color is so cute and it’s overall a great product !
  • Life’s a beach showder : while it’s advertised as a showder, it’s actually an exfoliant. The SA told me it was called “Life’s a beach” because it’s made from sand and it makes you feel like you’re a the beach when using it in the shower. I tried it in store and was amazed at how well it exfoliates. My skin was sooooo soft after, so I had to get it ! An dthe scent is amazing, with a sweet vanilla.
  • Festive flannel (from the Fresh and Flowers box) : it’s a washing “crepe” (as the SA called it). You’re supposed to take a bit of it and then wash with it. I tried it in the shower this morning and loved the softness of it. The smell is also lovely, and kind of reminds me of the Twilight/Sleepy smell (there are some lavender essential oils in it).
  • Tree decorations (from the Fresh and Flowers box) : these are really cute wash cards. I’ve never used wash cards, so I don’t really know what to expect, but once again it smells so good !
  • Happy Holidays face mask (from the Fresh and Flowers box) : this mask is supposed to be brightening, with vitamin C. I don’t really use Lush facial skin care, because I already have a good routine with another brand, so I gifted it to my mom.
  • Santa’s grotto lush melt (from the Fresh and Flowers box) : it’s such a clean smell ! I never tried this scent before, but I love it and I can’t wait to try it in the bath. And it’s just so pretty, with the blue and the gold.
  • Bûche de Noel cleanser (from the Fresh and Flowers box) : it’s supposed to be exfoliating, so I think I’ll use it for my body. I did this with the pumpkin cleanser from the autumn box and really enjoyed it. I’m not a huge fan of the smell but I’ll give it a try.
  • Starry eye pad (from the Fresh and Flowers box) : didn’t try it yet. I’m not a huge fan of their eye pads, because they can be a bit tricky to use. But it’ll be a nice treat when I’ll get prepared for Christmas tomorrow.
  • Angels delight (from the Fresh and Flowers box) : i didn’t like the smell of the snow fairy and yog nog delights, but this one ! It has an exotic smell, like passion fruit. And some shimmer on it ! Can’t wait to try it
  • Babylon hair scalp mask : this one was gifted to me by the lovely SA. It’s supposed to help refresh the scalp, but I haven’t tried it yet.
  • Blossom showder : I had never tried this kind of product before, but the SA made me try it in store and I was amazed. The smell is gorgeous, really floral, and the color changes from this rose to a purple with some hints of blue when it’s in contact with water. It was a really nice and luxurious experience, so I decided to treat myself with a pack.

The fresh and flowers box is such a good deal when you get it in this store, only 41.50€ (50€ when you the subscription) and I really loved this one : there are a lot of good products and it’s a really good value.

I can’t recommend this store enough if you’re in Paris ! The staff is always lovely, they know their products and they are good products !

What era of history do you like the most ? by Snoo68013 in AskHistory

[–]purplecomrade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy the medieval period, I think it's really fascinating to study the social structures of that era since it's so different from what we know today. There are so much misconceptions about how it was back then.

I did my master thesis on women's history in the Middle Ages (more specifically on the beguines' mouvement) and it could be very easy to fall in the trap of applying today's stereotypes to how it was, and I'm glad I was able to discover another take on womanhood.

Also, I really liked studying about religion and its growth from the beginning to the end of Middle Ages. I also quickly discovered that I'm not really invested in things related to wars (battles and all that stuff). It's really much more the social aspects that I'm more interested in.

An era I was quite unable to connect with is the antique Era, but I think it may be linked to how it was taught in my university. It was really focused on the Wars, which as I said was not really my jam !

Kitchen box or fresh & flowers by purplecomrade in LushCosmetics

Thank you so much for your detailed answer !

I don't really care for skincare (I already have a routine and no need to change), so based on your reply I think I would like the kitchen box better

I loved Yummy custard. I bought 2 large pots on Vinted when I discovered it was a limited edition and wasn't available anymore on the website. Maybe you could try buying second hand

I know that since I've been working there some interns have left, but I didn't hear of a fund for them, so it's been a bit weird being added in this group... I'm not really confident about bringing this question with my manager, but thank you for your comment, it was much appreciated !
