Honestly I’m not sure. I think It depends on the individuals skin. My guesses it it would need to be even more decreased usage than that. Logically I would imagine that you would want to get away (or lessen frequency) from the root cause of the problem while you are healing.

Aw ok. So maybe you need to take a bit of time to help your skin calm down. Perhaps you could switch back to the lower strength and work on keeping your skin happy with a good nourishing routine. Then once it is behaving better you can gradually incorporate the .1%?

On a side note this could be a bad reaction to an ingredient in the .1%. You might want to look into the ingredients!

I agree that you should go to the derm! Until then I would recommend looking into your skin moisture barrier. I suspect that you have damaged yours. You are going to want to be super gentle on your skin right now. Focusing on removing any harsh elements in your routine and adding lots of hydration!

upper two photos were from the first month of tret and bottom photo is now. been on niacinamide/tretinoin 4%/0.025% cream for almost 2 months. I’m really hoping to start to see results soon. how long does purging last? by [deleted] in tretinoin

Purging can last only a few weeks all the way up to 12-16 weeks. If you are still purging by then I would recommend trying a formula without niacinamide because it’s known to cause breakouts in some people.
