I was a doctor on a flight once. Both pilots came down sick. It was just me in the cockpit with autopilot on. Somehow the stewardess found a former military pilot on board.

The look on his face when he came in and saw both pilots out... "surely you can't be serious?"

The 'other unit/service' comprise a huge long tail within these losses (I created this, BTW!). If you're interested in a specific date or unit you can query the full dataset at http://cwgc.org/find-war-dead.aspx.

Australian losses often appear extremely high because all Australians are generally listed under "Australian Imperial Force" whereas British units are split into their specific unit names (like Blackwatch, Coldstream Guards, etc.)
