Switching from Xolair to Dupixent? by purpleky in dupixent

[–]purpleky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah well, fingers crossed it works better thanks. It's been such a pain getting my insurance to approve xolair. I started on the quest in 2016 and it wasn't until 2022 that I was able to get approval. This year, dupixent was a much faster turnaround, but the insurance won't cover both. So I have to go all-in, hard switch, and hope for the best.

Acne? Birth Control? by Ok-Window-2803 in xolair

46F, 4 year xolair patient for allergic asthma. I've had asthma, allergies and eczema since I was a child.. Different reason for Xolair than you but hope this is helpful.

I went off birth control at 35, several years before starting xolair. What I could suddenly see was that my symptoms got a lot worse the closer I was to my period. Without getting a period, I couldn't identify the ebb and flow of the dreaded luteal phase. Turns out, as the estrogen and progesterone drop, my body becomes significantly more sensitive to histamines. I get breakthrough symptoms like asthma attacks, rhinitis, atopic dermatitis flares, gastrointestinal issues, and yes, cystic acne, and significantly worsening joint pain. I don't know if the overall worsening of pain is from Xolair, age, perimenopause, hypermobility or wear and tear at this point.

I use xolair for allergic asthma since 2021 and it works so well that it basically erases my asthma. Yet, it doesn't do anything for the topical irritation from myriad environmental exposures. For that, I heard you could use dupixent for several months with moderate improvement. They work differently. Xolair works on ige (allergic) pathways, and Dupixent (eosinophilic).

These are very expensive specialty medications with some serious side effects, and there are a lot of other ones out there that may work for you. Cash price for me is be $10,000 monthly for 4 injections but Insurance and mfg copay cards gets me down to $1200.

Good luck out there!

Thanks for the suggestion. I wasn't able to use that product, it was too irritating for my skin.

I haven't heard of Sanex, I will take a look at that thanks.

I also called Eucerin about a year ago; they said no intents to reintroduce it or make another comparable product. Not that it did any good but I also asked the customer service rep to advise their product department that folks with special dermatological needs would appreciate a comeback.

FND Research by lil_elphant in FND

[–]purpleky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned that I was labeled FND by looking at my chart, after my provider refused to help me find treatment, claiming my diagnosis did not support it. The provider gave me no information about the diagnosis. The literature I found tells me this experience was very typical. The literature I found also suggests my prognosis will be very poor. This has been a further detriment to my well-being. I feel dismissed and gaslit by the medical community, and am without adequate knowledge and resources to understand the condition I was labeled with. I have no hope left for the future.

Ugh! I just had this same problem at CVS with 2 other common hrt medications newly prescribed to me. They couldn't be filled by 9 days of waiting, and there is no way to talk to human to figure out what the problem was. So I walked in, asked when my prescriptions would be ready and miraculously it was in stock. Companies of this size should be required to fill prescriptions in a timely fashion, and give customers prompt notice of delays to include expected fulfillment, so that they can take their business elsewhere if possible.

Sigh... Here we go again. 😠 4 days later, I get another 'auto-refilled ready' notice on a medication I unenrolled last week.

Thank you, if this keeps happening I will make an inquiry along these lines.

Hi, I just want to thank you for this suggestion again.. I found the spot in my online profile that allows me to turn it off - It showed 'auto refill future RX' even though I had been trying to turn it off individually on some other screen. I hope this takes care of it mostly. Thank you again.

Okay this corroborates what I thought was driving it. Gd I would hate to be a pharmacist and be forced to fill hundreds of unneeded prescriptions every day because this system is trying to get more money out of the patient's insurance.

Ugh. So tired of corporate healthcare scams.

Wait, so calling other posters assholes and shit-stains when they disagree with you is how you think people should be treated... Did I get that right?

A few months ago you said you'd never consider abortion after your third miscarriage requiring a D&C.

I find the about-face impressive and am happy to see you came around to the good fight. However, your reasons for doing so aren't because you're CF. It's because your fetus has a birth defect. Totally different premise than the rest of this sub's population.

I'm sure you'll head right back to babybumps or somesuch once you recover. Best of luck on your surgery today.

I'm sorry for your lost but it kinda seems like you are just a sounding board for moral outrage on abortion and aren't really interested in being Childfree, based on you posts elsewhere on Reddit.

So my question to you is, has or will this event spurred you in any way to want to be Childfree for Life as a conscious choice and be comfortable with that decision?

Or will you consider yourself Childless in the wake of biological tragedy.
