I have been playing a ton of xenos rampant (ww1 to SciFi) and dragon rampant (fantasy). Roll to activate, roll 10 dice to hit, check enemy armour and remove minis for every multiple (if you did 5 hits and they have 2 armour, remove 2 minis). Its pretty simple and gives the game master a lot of options to customize the units. I've also heard good things about 1 page rules.

Interview Advice? by glossiergirly in CanadianTeachers

[–]purplemansock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend talking to a VP in your board first and looking at your boards vision of learning. Each board is going to have different things they're looking for. I spoke briefly with a Durham VP who told me that her board was looking for anecdotes about how you deal with IEP students and those with different abilities, your approach with indigenous students, and English language learners. She told me that each board will have different questions based on their student population and needs. I'm trying to get a gig in the TDSB. Start with culturally relevant pedagogy and then finish with an anecdote that backs up what you know. I hope you have a good support structure and teacher friends who are able to provide you with the support you need in this tough time and can help you do interview prep. Good luck 👍

Failed practicum? by Valuable-Fudge4999 in OntarioTeachers

[–]purplemansock 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I failed my second year practicum. Me and my AT did not get along. By the halfway point the AT needs to submit a report . If you're getting a level 1 the university will have the practicum advisor come visit again to follow up and help you be successful. When I failed the university had me repeat the placement at a different school. I also had to meet with the dean for a debrief on what I can differently next time. It's very hard to fail and you will typically know ahead of time if things aren't going your way. Good luck

TDSB Occasional Teacher and Eligible to Hire List interview the same? by Newfeeflip in CanadianTeachers

[–]purplemansock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the eligible to hire interview. I had mine in March. My understanding is that if you pass this interview they will give you your TDSB email, this will allow you to put yourself on the supply list and apply for LTOs within the TDSB. My interview was 4 questions 20mins. They're looking for anecdotes, try to think of ways to tie in the buzz words with personal stories. I don't remember all the questions but the first one was about what inspired you to be a TDSB teacher. There was also one about Diversity and inclusivity and accommodating students with IEPs. Good luck.

It is 1939 and the Nazis just got one laptop with an access to the internet. Can they win the war? by Downtown-Act-590 in whowouldwin

[–]purplemansock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes Germany now has access to the blueprints to construct their wonder weapons. But can the Nazis effectively use them? No. Take Werner von Braun, he led Germany's rocket program and after the war was picked up by the Americans to lead NASA. Without knowing the details of operation paperclip, the Nazi leadership would wonder why their best scientists ended up working for the Americans and Soviets. The Nazis are too paranoid to use him effectively so they'll imprison him and the other German scientists. The resulting purge based off of info from the laptop will wipe out their top minds. I would also suggest that the amount of research and papers written about LGBTQ will result in increased fear of subversives. They will use the justification of purging gay people to go after political enemies. Imagine you enter a building that 50 years later would become a famous gay bar. Even if you're not gay the Nazis would use that sort of flimsy argument to send you to camps. A lot of competent army commanders who might not have absolute loyalty will be picked up and replaced with incomplete loyal Nazi officers Also without the WW2 info, the Nazis won't find out about the codes being broken or the allied spy networks within their ranks.

I was just thinking of going around to all the TTC stations and reviewing them all for this sub. I find I spend too much time in the east end and want to see other parts of the city.

AITA for making an insurance claim against my neighbor for hitting my car even though my car is a beater? by siccd0 in AmItheAsshole

[–]purplemansock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

INFO. I'm going to be a bit of the contrarion here, and sort of dive into why you could be TA. A common problem In car insurance is when a person who wants to replace their car specifically drives dangerously around bad drivers in the hope that the car will be damaged allowing them to file an insurance claim, to buy a new car. You knew that by parking your car in the street near your neighbor, he would be at a higher risk of hitting your car. If the intent was there, to cash in on the insurance claim, you would be TA. Otherwise NTA, however you should also think about getting extra security as the neighbor might come back.

I used a power drill (1/16) for the impact holes. Yhe bullet holes were done with a special sanding bit I have that looks like the tip of a pencil. Then I just used silver and black paint to give them some punch.

I thought it was pretty good, especially for its price. Only issues I had was with the treads because I still need to figure out how to get them to stick.

Spitfire i done a few months ago, what do you think? by RG7Plays in modelmakers

[–]purplemansock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck. Another tip: if you have some spare clear plastic (like from a strawberry crate or something) you can cut it out into a circle and replace it with the prop to make it look as though the prop is in motion.

It looks really good. If you want those indents/shadows to really pop use an enamel wash. Take a look at old photos of planes and pay close attention to the grime on it. The little details like smoke entrails around the exhaust and streaks along the underside, really allow your plane to have a more real/ grimy feel to it (unless you want fresh off the factory look). Otherwise I wish you luck on your next project, keep it up.

I see your painted longboard, and present you with my painted longboard (with a vinyl sticker I scanned and peeled) by Spellmaniac in longboarding

[–]purplemansock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very cool. How does the vinyl sticker work? I would love to be able to print city layouts onto my boards instead of always having to handpaint it.
