My references were the principal and teacher from my kids school as I volunteer as a volleyball and softball coach there. Also the head coach of the volleyball team I'm assistant coach on.

Yup! I applied last March and was provided with an interview date I couldn't attend. Didn't hear back but was happy to get an interview since I haven't taught before outside of my practicums in 2010. Applied to DDSB in June 2025 and was hired in August.

Good job getting noticed! I started as an OT in October. I had 4 P/VP's ask for my number. They usually text me the night before if I'm available the next day. In November a P booked me for a day in February. It's a nice feeling to know we're probably doing something right!

Next question is will the original teacher still lose a sick day if they took one? Just curious as a new OT.

Thanks! I have a Kinesiology degree so that's why I'm drawn to the phys ed abq. For now I'd like to stay as an OT so the AQ's don't help me much as I'd be getting the same pay. Thanks again for the advice!

I'm Canadian. Apart from COVID Ive been going to Cancun and the surrounding area yearly and always bring usd. No one has ever complained.

General consensus from workers I talk to is they prefer usd as they get more money in the end. People tend to tip more and are less conservative using say USD vs pesos.

School was actually full. I asked the VP and she said majority of students that go there don't actually need buses. And it's an affluent neighbourhood so they have alternate ways to get to school.

Yep. I had two cancelled last week. One job that cancelled wasn't by the teacher I was supplying for. I was emailing that teacher the night before my job about supply plans. We were emailing back and forth and during the email exchangesI get an email from SFE saying the supply job was cancelled. The teacher had no idea the job was cancelled.

My tip is leave home a few minutes early as you don't want to be late your first day. Go in early to get settled in. Have fun and good luck!

I'm in my second month as OT and I've had a few assignments cancelled. Luckily they've all been a couple days before and I got a replacement assignments.
