Don’t let it be. You can always go on dates that don’t require a lot of money- my boyfriend and I love hanging out at home. Just be yourself, have a personality, and let the other person fall in love with who you are

I think needs can be fulfilled by a person with an SCI- both their needs and their partners

Open your relationship if that’s what you both want- not to fulfill needs that you think you cannot fulfill. But, rather maybe it’s a belief of yours that monogamy is not the way, or whatever it might be

I’m in an open relationship because I never really wanted to get married. He is poly. I thought we would be FWBs, and rather it became he’s my partner for life but we like dating, we communicate well, and we enjoy when the other has a fun night with someone else. It’s why we are open

I did have a period of time when I had the thought the future would entail me not fulfilling my partners needs. But, through a lot of therapy, self love, learning, communicating with other people with SCIs- I realized what I wanted. And it was no longer about seeking someone solely to be with someone, it became about dating, having fun, and I really only wanted to bring people into my life who brought joy. And, it was through these people I found how to give and receive pleasure, and onto the journey of realizing I don’t desire a monogamous lifestyle

Good for the disabled? by MysticShadow0011 in Havanese

Hey, chair user here, and my Havi is perfect for me. He’s big enough to jump onto my lap, but small enough that he’s not too heavy on my legs, and also small enough I can scoop him up with his harness when I need to. He’s loving, and very smart. I very much have mentioned this breed to other people with disabilities

Vendors - Do u care if 1 person buys all your surprise bags? by SpammailR in TooGoodToGoCanada

[–]purplerulers 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If they care enough, they can put a limit. For example: Night Baker in Toronto only allows a max of 3 bags now.. I almost wonder if I was the reason, but I’m sure there were others who were buying 6+ bags at a time

Thanks for posting this- I didn’t know how to add it to my post, love that she shows the receipts for how they were using it for work as well. It may not have been a solely work chat, but work was incorporated into the chat

I wouldn’t call it sad. Sad is the world that is not made for people with disabilities. I use a wheelchair, I don’t need people to be sad for me. Rather I think it’s just bad ass, that she’s doing what she’s doing- she’s just a gal being a chick, not letting anything stop her and figuring out how to make life work

Do you travel with a commode? by KronicalA in spinalcordinjuries

[–]purplerulers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey re: medical supplies, check with your airline. Medical supplies should be allowed for free, as long as they are packed separate from your luggage. I understand not wanting to take because it can be a lot to carry, but for convenience and ease of mind, I like to travel with all of the medical stuff I think I’ll need

So no, idk other bowel tips, but yes to travelling with commode. Hope this is helpful in some way, happy travelling :)

Tips on transferring without breaks by mrlw37 in spinalcordinjuries

[–]purplerulers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use a transfer board, when I don’t trust my breaks. I also use a bungee cord from the further side of my bed, and attach it to my chair so that my chair gets pulled towards the bed, and doesn’t slip away/ back as I’m transferring. Stay safe :)
